Here are some simple suggestions for rewards, loot and incentives for players that don't necessarily give bonus stats, abilities, etc.
Add a Captains Log. A journal that keeps track of all the important events in a players careers. Things such as -Sinking other players -Being Sunk -Completing career quests -Completing epic quests -Taking part in Port Battles -Reaching certain goals, like raising x amount of contention, X number of National/Pirate ships sunk -Add discoveries to ports and then make it that they get added to the Captains log when discovered. More Clothing Options purchased with MOV's and dubloons. Boardable Ship Housing The ability to decorate a ship (have different layouts available), something that players can invite friends to visit while on the dock (much like an AVCOM instance). That players can decorate with things like crates, cannons, crew, flags, paintings, swords, treasure items, trophies from quests and pvp etc. Plantation Style Housing. Something that starts off ramshackle and as a player advances in their career (spends money and or MOV's) increase the size, quality, able to hire staff for their home, items to decorate it etc. More customization options for your ship such as -Brass Railings for your ship -Different engravings for the aft of your ship -Different figureheads for the bow -uniforms for your crew -Sail Patterns (like Royal Designations for your vessel) -Flags (like Royal Designations for your vessel) -Brass Cannons -Brass fittings Extra Production lots that cost MOVS or MOTS for upkeep Player Titles I know this is coming out but some ranks that fit the nation that a player plays for. example, Knighthoods, Dukedoms etc that are purchased through MOV's Just some ideas to toss around, don't know how easy these would be to implement though.

Why MoVs though? Don't you want these rewards to mean something? What good is the title of Duke if someone can buy it off the auction house? Titles should be the result of actions, not purchased from other players.

Well, you can have titles that can be purchased through dubloons, MoV's or some other sort of currency and ones that can be earned through quests, killing x number of NPC's, players, taking part in PBs, raising contention etc.
Initially, yes anyone can buy MoV's but if you add a bunch of items that players want, either players have to earn MoV's or buy MoV's to get these items. This creates a supply and demand issue. If the same number of people continue to PVP the same amount, this creates an increased scarcity,(more players will want the MoV's for these items but the same number of MoV's are produced) This in turn increases the value of the MoV's. Inevitably, the PVP players receive alot of dubloons for their work because they are the only source of MoV's Now, this in turn increases the profitability of PVP by making MoV's a higher demand item. So either players throw themselves into the fray to make up for the shortage of MoVs, or still refuse to take part in the primary purpose of the game, but pay out the ying yang for MoVs. Plus lets face it. Most PVP'rs will get these titles and items (Purchased Ones)for themselves first, then worry about supplying all the other players with MoV's after they have all the items they need or want. This is kind of a two birds with one stone. Of course like I said, there should be titles or rewards that are only earned through gameplay. -X number of National players Killed -X number of Pirate Players killed -X Number of Nation NPC's -X Number of Pirate NPC's -Epic Quest completion titles. -Career Quest completion titles. -Produced X number of something -etc etc The Title names I mentioned were nothing more then examples, what they are called, what they are tied to specifically as far as earning them or buying them is up to FLS how to implement.

I like the Captain's log. Something that lets a history of our character develop.

Clothing options are always good, it helps create unquie avitars and make a personality for ourselvs. There has been alot of talk about adding a "Captain's Cabin" space to your ship as well as player housing. More economic sinks are good for the economy. I would love to see these get implimented, sadly though its probably going to be a bit of time before that happens. Ship customization, well there have been may of a thread suggesting figure heads and the like. Trouble with it is some of the ship modles are not owned by FLS and they can not be altered in any way. Even if they could alter the modles the shapes of the bows are so diffrent on the ships the Figure Heads wouldnt line up, same goes for all the other suggestions. I think it would be awsome if they could do it and I would even settle for a place to put the name of my ship on the stern, alas that is even too complicated given the sheer volume of size diffrences between models. Extra production slots, this one is intersting because it costs MOVs or MOTs. I dunno if its a good idea or not. The Pros it could get you a boost in econ for PvP actions. This may stimulate the economy more and cause more PVP to keep those lots running. Cons, It could cause the economy to tank becuase of increased PVP no one would be working the economy side of things as much. I think this would have to be carfuly balanced. Titles, they are cool. Id like it if they actually did something for you like rasie your reputation or lower it for diffrent factions.
