Default process of elimination

ok, since 1.6 having constant logouts, discoes, mostly in pvp or lag intensive situations. Running Vista 64 bit, on Antigua server, I have 15 mbps/1.5mbps (down/up) cable internet, have tried both w/ router (netgear rangemax WN834B) and w/o, use a motorolla surfboard modem. The rig is a HP Pavillion Elite m9350f. Have reset the modem, router, rebooted, turned off the firewall, tried everything I can think of. Ran a traceroute (normal) and used Wireshark to try to find the problem. Submitted numerous tickets w/ info and absolutely nothing has come back w/a fix.

Is it the massive influx of EU players now on the server and it cannot handle the traffic or did 1.6 break me because I use 64 Vista or Vista in general? All conditions normal prior to 1.6 and EU rush. Unfortunately they happened at the same time. Last thing to test is Ventrillo and it's funner when you can talk to your buddies when you game so I hope that's not it. Any kind of positive suggestion would be awesome. Thank you for any or all help. BTW, FLS...why can't I submit my Wireshark files through support site, is it enabled or is there an email I can get that info to support at?

being one of the bad EU-Rushers I am using a brandnew Vista 64 with Gforce 280 since yesterday and its running worse with PotBS than my Toshiba x200 Notebook with Vista Home.

Kicked Vista 64 off and installing XP currenlty (more because of some other applications refusing to work with Vista 64 which I need to work)

I just had the cable technician by the house and he informed me that (being a gamer himself) by being kicked out of an instance/OS and back to the log in screen it was in fact a server issue. He told me that if the lights on my modem & router stayed lit (pc connectivity, online, send, receive, and power) while i'm booted from the server that it's a server issue. None of the lights have ever gone off on my modem or router while playing. He ran various tests on my connection including speed (lowest down was 10.3 mbps and lowest up was 1.27 mbps) and said it was "pristine". He went so far as to change the ends on the cable to ensure they were good and tight. Made sure the neighbors weren't mooching off my line. Ran some diagnostic tests on the modem...all clear and "golden".

So i'm led to believe it's a server issue, too much traffic, too much foreign traffic and the only solution is to A) either open up the pipe and let more bandwidth through or B) shrink the server population or C) get bigger better faster servers. FLS is seriously jeopardizing subs by waiting to do something major and fast. I am reassured by the amount of folks complaining in area chat about "how laggy" everything knowing that it's not "just me".

****Thinking back this all started with the chaos around Havana in the OS when the server had to be rebooted. That was the day of the release of 1.6. Quite possibly did something go wrong, horribly wrong, the worst possible case scenario wrong? Or am I just tripping while FLS scurries to find a fix?***

While i'm very excited at the prospect of full servers, i'm totally dissatisfied w/ it's ability handle such traffic. I know none of this is intentional and am still looking for positive suggestions.

To me dumbing down my system/network is not an option.

FLS are you there & listening? You still have a chance to save one. T-6 days.

ps- what's with this word "solved" on the support site? It's obvious FLS and I have different definitions of "solved"...pick a better word than "solved" if in fact the problem isn't "solved" please...it's insulting.

thank you for any or all suggestions,

Pico

I wish I could buy into it being only 64 bit Vista but it's the exact same problem on my 32 bit Vista machine too.
