Angry Downloading Patch for the first time.

Sup guys

I am really really hoping the patcher is broke because I started downloading the patches and it said it would be done in 4+ hours. I thought that was crap because who the hell has time to sit around for 4 hours waiting on a download but I guess a lot of people because even though I kept waiting for the time to drastically drop it didn't budge.

As you can see I really don't have any patience but I managed to wait the 4 hours of hell and then the timer restarts and jumps up to 19+ hours!!!!

Is this for real???

I'm really hopping there is some kind of bug and I can cancel this and start playing the game or something.

So did I just get scammed into paying 39.99 for a game then still have to download all day to play it?

When you have a free game client online you expect to be downloading all day. When you go into a store and buy disk's you expect to only have to download updates. Like 4 hours on slow dsl and 1 hour high end dsl.

This is a very sick joke!!!

This is a known issue. There are a lot of updates to download. I recommend that once the download is finished, make a back-up of your files so in the event that you ever need to reinstall, you don't have to go through the updates again.

I think there is a system in the works to have smaller future downloads.

You have to see this!

After getting over the shock of 300+ hour download time remaining when I work up this morning I started thinking this has to be a really cool game. I can't wait to play it.... Like a week from now lol

You could always try the Sony Station Launcher Here

Whenever a new patch starts i run both of them and pick the one which is going to take the quickest, which most of the time happens to be teh Station Launcher.

Worth a try, looks like you got nothing to lose really.

I don't know if I'm willing to start the download over again. Ill check it when I get home from work but as long as I have been going it can't take much longer.

After 2 hours it went from 300 hours to 145 hours.

I'm holding out hope that it will be done when I get home.

I'd like to emphasize what Majestic said there;
Use the station launcher: http://launcher.station.sony.com/ . It should be much faster.

The CD's in the box you bought were printed?/pressed? (what the heck do you call making CD's?) back in Dec or so last year. Since then there has been numerous changes/patches etc... with the latest 1.7 coming out on Thursday.

That said, take the update timer with a grain of salt as it will jump all over the place (down / up / sideways ). You're probably looking at a good day of down loading in the end.

Do you know anyone close to you that plays? You can copy the piggs from them which would be about 1200X faster!

If you monitor the download you will notice when it seems to slow down. Cancel the download at that time and restart it. I did this and cut the entire process (I had to install the game twice for two accounts) to less than 2 hours. Still a lot longer than what it should be but it works.
