I notice you cant really explore anything in the Worls of PotBS. I think they should add the ability to search more, rather than just run around in port and do instance based missions.
Add a bit for RPG type of things to the world! There's certainly plenty of room on the maps, local and global You could have them be an instance unto themselves that equate to a mission eg zone in and a npc(s) give you the mission right there and you just keep rolling into it (no port etc) since you've virtually entered a mission zone rather than port (See Fortaleza and a few other sites that are created once you have mission X) but have these as unlisted (have to search for them) and no prereq mission(s) so you only find them by searching and can attempt them at any time. Also the level of mission can be unknown as well, to add a degree of risk (altho the npc might give a hint) or if its repeatable then the level of the quest can be randomised...These type of missions can have their own chain or be random on the map even. There's a heap of reasons for these missions to appear at random locations eg a new pirate hideout, traitorous National groups and more! Thoughts? |

That's one of those things that's been in the works pretty much since game start. One of the dev's waaaaay back said that the reason those forts, towns and temples were scattered around was because they were to be explorable / quest instances.
I think it was suppose to be part of the AvCom upgrade. Your guess is as good as mine if it will actually happen.

During development the devs mentioned that they were planning to add Land based adventure zones, where you could wander around the jungle and explore caves and mayan ruins. But, I think other more important things have distracted them from this idea.

I would like to see this, too. I recall my first day ol and I tried clicking on the forts, pyramids, etc, to find nothing... Makes for interesting scenery, but would also be good exploration zones. It would also be nice so you could challenge other players to on-land avcom duels.

If you know, remember the game "Pirate of the caribean" (also called "Seadogs2") where we can get out the town, and explore the island on foot, find some monsters (sheeta, monkey, indians or mercenary's camp) or some caves and move to another zone, that's be good.
![]() it can be easy to make that, only on small area island. For exemple : we take a mission in town, move out the town by the back door, explore open jungle to find the meeting point, to finally enter into the mission instance. any idea ? |

man I loved Sea Dogs 2 (PotC). I was half expecting PoTBS to be Sea Dogs 2 the MMO... I was terribly disapointed
