Recent reports of cheating

Ahoy all,

We are very aware of your concerns about this issue, and I want to reassure you that we investigate every single report of exploits and hacking that we receive, as it’s something we take very seriously. In this instance, we have investigated thoroughly, and have found no evidence nor any possible mechanism that leads us to think that any player is abusing the system to cause these problems. We are continuing to investigate why the disconnects are happening, but we do not suspect foul play.

We also actively investigate websites who advertise that they have cheats available for Pirates of the Burning Sea. We haven’t yet found a single valid cheat or hack on any of these websites, however we will continue to monitor them and regularly check their claims.

Having said that, I would like to remind everyone that the right way to go about reporting things like this is via the support website. Discussion of exploits is not allowed on the Pirates of the Burning Sea forums; it fosters an atmosphere of suspicion and mistrust that’s impossible to resolve and always ends up as an endless argument. Issues reported on the forums also takes longer to reach the eyes of our customer support staff, who are separate from our forum moderation team.

I want to reiterate that if you file a support ticket about suspect activity, we will investigate it, and we will take actions against people if we find evidence of hacking, cheating, or exploits. What we won’t do is comment on individual cases relating to specific individuals publicly.

And what about the endless arguements that are fostered by FLS letting people cheat others threw crossteaming?

Its rampant and we see our tickets go un answered.

ok so you want people to have multi accounts what about those of us that are unsubbing our multi accounts because of it?

I do not work for FLS, but i think i can safely point out that if and when a valid report of cheating is report and substantiated, they deal with the issue.

As far as cross teaming is concerned, i believe the reports of abuse are widespread and blown out of proportion. I have multiple accounts, and have occasion to play multiple nations on the same server. Why? Because i know the people on this server, as i have played here as a Pirate for near 2 years at this point. I did not want to go to another server, where the people i so dearly want to sink play on this server.

I do not cheat in PBs, i do not mark farm or dura farm. I think the players that take advantage of this and do what i do FAR outnumber the players who cheat. What would happen if FLS changed the policy? I, the honest player, who xfer my toon. The cheaters would continue to do so.

In short, i beleive FLS does in fact respond to these complaints, you are just not at liberty to know that "Schmedger Hampburn" was banned for 3 days for obsessive drunken ranting or something of that nature.

Yea well Ive seen it happen and its ruined my game experiance Ive been on pirates since day 1 beta but im done now.

Since they changed the rule Ive seen the numbers on Black Beard decline to the point we cant field a team of 24 for any port battle in any time slot.

Many ppl are sick of the rubbish going on and fls just turn a blind eye to it.

They changed the rule they need to fix it .

How does the cross teaming rule affect PB numbers? The declining PB numbers could be factored by many things, including school starting (i am sure some of our players are students, maybe some are teachers). There are other games coming out now, maybe people are trying them out. The pop does wax and wain, with more waining coming soon with the creation of the new Boarding Party and more Advertising.

Well for my part of it...Thanks FLS for at least making the fact that this was a concern of the players a public matter. Now we just wait and see I guess.

Crossteaming has ruined this game...period. It has engendared a feeling of distrust in most nations and has taken a lot of pleasure out of playing. And the sad thing is that of the people that try to come back are met with scowls and derision by their former friends. A very short sighted decision that has driven alot of players away. Spain BB is the posterchild for this situation.

Being in a Port battle with the people on the other side of the PB speaking in your own nation chat is very concerning issue. Its my thoughts that cross teaming while not able to really be enforced. Having something setup to where you cannot be logged into two nations/factions at the same time seem's like a rather easy fix and would keep things to /area chat or tells as it should be.

I personally, wish a review of the cross teaming policy but at the very list you should only be able to log into one nation/faction at the same time.
