Default Production Planner

Note: Remus is no longer maintaining Production Planner and the final version is for build 2.10.
Others are welcome to continue keeping Production Planner up to date or writing a new econ tool with current stats, and you are advised to check the end of this thread to see if anyone else has done so.

In Production Planner, you can:
  • Look up the costs to make anything and tweak these calculations to take account of structures you own, tax rates you pay and whether or not you use advanced recipes. You can also include purchase prices of goods you buy and the values of goods you obtain through European Traders
  • Apply mark-ups to these prices either as a percentage of cost or as doubloons per lot-hour, or a combination of both. You can display/compare four different mark ups side by side.
  • Calculate the materials required to make a list of ships and outfitting using the Shipyard Planner sheet
  • Plan production lines and what structures you need to make almost every other manufacturable item using the Production Planner sheet.
  • Look up European Trader and Commendation exchanges, and apply mark-ups to see where the best value lies.
  • Look up all recipes.
  • Look up all refit and writ requirements and set your own values for Marks of Victory and Trade, Magistrate's / Boss's Commendations and Royal Commendations / Captured Battle Standards to see the effective cost of certified and refit ships.

Production Planner is available from 4shared.com here:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/OtVPocEt/...er_29400b.html

Alternative download location for both my spreadsheets here:
http://thepurge.net/production/

Unfortunately I have not been able to upload the latest version of Production Planner to Slamz' site.

Note for Users of OpenOffice
If you find N/A in some of the cells, go to Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Calc > Calculate and check the box
Search criteria = and <> must apply to whole cells

You are right.

Sorry about that - looks like I missed it from when I originally created Shipyard Planner. It is now fixed. Thank you for pointing this out.

There are no other changes.

This is only of interest to users of Open Office 3 and (as far as I am aware) only affects the Shipyard Planner and Bob the Builder sheets.

I failed to make all the changes required when I updated for compatiblity with Open Office 3. I think I have now caught all the errors. Please report any problems you find.

Sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong forum topic, and by the way thank you very much for your efforts in this spreadsheet. It is amazing.

I finally got over my avoidance of this spreadsheet b/c it's a bit intimidating at first. I am trying to figure out an optimal setup for making Brass ammo with extra brass ingots (but not a must).

Using the spreadsheet I've come up with
3 powder mills
2 forges
1 saltpeter cave
1 sulfter mine
1 copper mine
1 zinc mine
and based on those I'll need 252 logs / wk but I'll buy those.

I could be totally wrong with my numbers since this is my first crack at the spreadsheet. Should give me an ammo output of 2240 and 448 brass ingots (which get used up in ammo usage). I was short 224 powder / wk with this setup. Gives me quite a bit of copper / zinc surplus too but I don't want to really buy AH and reliable sellers aren't easy to find quickly.

I guess I am posting this here in hopes if my numbers /expectations are wrong you can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong with the spreadsheet as well as an optimal bronze ammo setup.

You are doing fine. Bronze shot is just the sort of awkward production line I wrote the Production Planner tab to work out.

As you have a wish for extra brass ingots, I might suggest you limit your bronze shot production to match your black powder - ie make 2010 crates of bronze shot per week - and use the remaining hours to make brass ingots, a weekly surplus of 68, or more if you use advanced recipes.

With small-scale brass production, you cannot get around either having lots of copper/zinc left over or else buying it (zinc in particular) from the Auction House or other players.

You could always use the tenth lot to build another forge. This would make another 336 brass ingots and use up most of your copper.

As for your other surpluses: Sulfur and copper ore should sell reasonably well, saltpeter rather less so. If you cannot get zinc from the auction house at a decent price you may be able to sell your surplus (but zinc is expensive to mine, so you may prefer to leave the mine idle for three quarters of the time).

Do not underestimate either the cost of this undertaking - several hundred thousands of doubloons a week expenditure - nor the amount of hauling involved. You will doubless be working out what ports to use for your structures; the Summary section will show you the quantities involved. In general these are not weights, but in your case all the materials apart from the crates of shot themselves have a weight of 1 per unit. I imagine you will be hauling common wood (252), sulfur (252), black powder (2010) and zinc (806 with 3 forges), putting the powder mills in the saltpeter port and the forges in the copper port. I don't have a port resource list to hand, but I imagine this will need four ports, making the final warehouse rather expensive.

I hope this helps.

Default Production Planner 1.14.63.0 Released

Production Planner 1.14.63.0a now available from 4shared.com

The only change in this patch that affects Production Planner is the Leviathan Bark recipe.

I have also corrected a couple of item names and added a note for OpenOffice users.

Edit: One minor bug corected. Updated to 1.14.63.0a

I would be grateful if a Forum Moderator could remove the 1.13 from the thread title.
