Default Returning Player: Buc or CT?

Hello everyone

I used to play Potbs when it was first released, played a level 50 NO with a Reason on Black Beard for about the first month of the game. I'm thinking about returning to play and would like to try out a Pirate.

I suppose, given my history, what would everyone recommend in terms of class? Buc or CT? I have been looking for information on them and found some, but I'd like some experienced players to comment on the status of the classes and how they shape up in terms of pvp, both solo and group.

From what seems to be the common opinion Bucs are very strong in 1v1, but that's about all I have managed to gather.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Bucc is much more similar to the NO than the CT is.

niether of them are similar to the NO, the buc has the 2nd best turnrate in the game, its home is up close and personal, totally opposite to the NO, the only similarity is that both can get good resistance, although Bucs just have to click a buff, NOs are mostly thru toggles which means you cant do anything else while you are resisting

Bucc is a bit harder to use but is probably the better class in skilled hands. CTs are extremely versatile and good at just about everything, though.

Just use the CB or PHerc, and you're good either way.
I'd play a Cutt, because you are not gonna get any respect as a Bucc pvp'er. That is, i could never feel like i'd accomplished much by winning as Bucc in their current state.

God, I am sick of this ****! I rolled my Buc the day it came out and I'm not gonna stop playing him to get some respect from a ****** like you. I don't roll in a CB and I don't totally tank out either. I do this to get fights, and I lose more then I win.

Please, please. Give it a rest.

Buccs are more versatile than Cutthroats in raw combat in my opinion, natural resistance alone leaves room for focusing on other aspects, like damage, reload and accuracy. Cutthroats have to give up at LEAST one slot in their general outfittings if they wanted to gain 1/4th of what Buccaneers can obtain in damage resistance from career alone.

It's kind of odd; the Cutthroat is easier to pick up and play, but with the Buccaneer, once you get around the curve, it's a much smoother ride than the Cutthroat.

The truth is playing buccaneer is easymode. We even have a rat society on roberts called "easymode" which consist of buccs, mostly in CBs.

Having the resistance of NO, turning good like Privateer, having nice repairs close to a FT is just ridiculous and make them good choice for solo and group fights. Lately, the only good change was "Jugular" so buccs can be hit -25% accel and reload and -31,5% res. for 90 seconds. But if you cant use that time wisely, you ll be again in trouble.

So, that some players play a buccaneer from the beginning will not change the truth of OPness of buccs.

Yeah. Maybe the cutthroat is easier to just pick up and sink some npcs with, but i got to say that it is WAY easier to PVP in buccs than it is with cutts.

With a bucc you just got to kick in all the resist buffs, use the few worthwhile debuffs, use your spike dmg and your set. With a cutt you got to take advantage of the wind, because most of the time you want to board, or you got to stern camp, or you got to demast, or get within 100 yard yo hit with all you debuffs ... all this while having close to no dmg resistance, but good speed.

Basically, i won fairly easily the 3-4 first 1vs1 i did with my bucc. I hardly play with it now because I just much more enjoy playing a cutthroat even if I find it harder, or should I say because I find it harder. I lose many 1vs1 in my cutt ... but i keep practicing and improving. I even think I found out a big mistake i was doing just yesterday, so beware.
