Default PB Report - Fort de France - 03/05/09

France: 24 - 1 CMC, 2 Wendens, few Valis / Reasons / Mords, few HMCs / HHs
Spain: 24 - 1 2nd, few 3rds / 4ths (?), Mercys / HHs / Intrepids / MBs

Leaders: In Ferno (F) / Dos Canones (S)

Map: Arch Coastline

The Battle:

French fleet proceeds out of door 3 and moves North at close haul, quickly sighting the spanish at the small island (defender point 3). The spanish promptly turn and head North, towards the town gun, where they formed up 2 lines facing the French fleet, who took a minute to form up and headed down to meet them. At the last moment, the french fleet veered left and drew first blood in the form of a valiant 3rd rate. Some clever maneuvering from the spanish fleet then broke off the second heavy french line, and now two fleets effectively became four. However, the heavier guns of the French 2nd line quickly began to tell on the spanish frigate line that had broken off to engage them, and while the French 1st line, comprised mainly of frigates and a few 3rd rates was holding the spanish heavies at bay, with good blocking saving many and good focussed fire sinking several more spanish ships, the french 2nd line were able to maneuver their opponents into the fresh broadsides of the french 1st line, causing more spanish casualties. The remaining spanish then regrouped and tried to charge the lighter french 1st line, but the 2nd fleet arrived in time to stop them in their tracks and send the remainder of the Spanish fleet running to the fort. The French destroyed the town gun, and entered the town (after 1 DC when the timer ran out). The spanish exited the fortress, but their ships were still 1500 yards away when the port commander fell to French steel.

In honour of our French Mascott, Konstantin Panev, on his 47th Birthday, I am proud to declare the Battle of Fort de France a FRENCH VICTORY!!!

Butchers Bill:

France: 5 (Wenden, 2 Valiants, 2 HH)
Spain: 14 (ships unknown - estimate 5+ Valis, few HHs, Intrepid, Mercys, Archelons)

Dos lead the spanish force until he went down....
Not very good performance from us but we get it toghter next time.
Nice to see full group of AXE in the PB and that every nation atm seem to have a force that leaves nothing decided until after the final kill.
Thanks to CEIO who brought their Valiants and went down as heroes... Hopefully CdA can bring a full group next time... // tiphat Miguel
