A German investor has arrived in order to build the first steam engine in the history of the Caribbean. Unfortunately, his fleet has been attacked by a rival company and is now nowhere to be seen.

The inventor, who goes by the name of Kurt Wegner, has requested your assistance in searching for his steam engine parts. He suggests that you help either by yourself or in groups, however being in a group will most likely be of greater use due to the dangerous waters of the Caribbean.

His courier apologizes that he can't give you Mr. Wegner's exact location at this time, yet states that you should be ready to assist on Saturday 27th march at 6pm Pacific.

Hey, just so everyone knows, this event was not at all Aegir's idea. It was completely planned out by a Live Events Team member (not FLS staff). So come out and participate!

This sounds interesting! =)

When I first read it, I thought:"Wow, a new "Investor/Sponsor" for FLS , that is going to create a Valve Steam Client esp. for Potbs". =D

Oh for **** sake

Steam engines came along until the early 1800's
So now the industrial revolution is well underway i guess

if your going to have steam engines in game then at least let the rest of the game be so historically inaccurate - stop wasting time on making sure ship models are so "period correct" if your just going to go lax everywhere else!!

you might as well give us submarines and the USS Constitution much less pet sharks with laser guns on their heads!!!

First successful commercial steam engine was invented in 1712. More info:

Also do a google search of Newcomen engine.

After the invention of the Steam Engine in 1712, the industry kept going on without using them. When they became more efficient, smaller, etc, they started to be used.

Kurt Wegner, our german investor is a so-called early-adaptor of the steam engine, testing its efficiency in the carribean.

Aegir is very strickt when it comes to historical accuracy, so dont expect to the USS constitution in a live event.

Yeah, I can't understand why you put so much in here. This is finally a VERY nice event. I've been waiting forever now to finally see a new boat design! I love this step forwards in history...

This is not about new boat designs. It is "just" an event. Steam ship designs came alot later than the 1720's.
