Simple really.
Make it so that for every 50 crew on the ship, you get a wave of reinforcements. 0 - 50 no reinforcement waves 50 - 100 1 reinforcement waves etc. Privateer skill adds one wave to that. |

You should know that's what we had before and it wasn't that great since being boarded with 0 waves is just not fun.

Getting demasted isn't fun but I don't think making it so you go at full speed with no sails is a good idea.
Same with this - don't want to get boarded with 0 waves, then outfit for crew defense. Right now crew defense isn't worthwhile and the only purpose of AP shot is making boarding either possible or not.. espescially if you're attacking a privateer. It makes the tradeoffs a few items have where they reduce crew defense largely pointless. Also right now people can do truly terribly in ship combat but because they are specced for boarding (or ping-kite) they can stun/rage board and win, sometimes almost regardless of what the other player attempts to do to to prevent it. By restoring the direct correlation it means that what happens in ship combat more directly effects the boarding action meaning that once more ship combat skill has precedence - and that's what potbs is great at. |

There needs to be a happy medium though. Minimum should be 2 waves, not 3, and there really ought to be more of a difference between 500 crew and 200 crew than 1 extra wave.

Why not just completely revamp Boarding Com, not now, not next year, but eventually, though I do support the Ideas, makes no sense in boarding a Ship that supposedly has 3 crew members left alive, yet they still get all 4 waves.
Anyway, how about boarding combat directly related to the exact amount of crew, onboard a ship, so If I board a Small-Large ship with 20 crew members left alive, I'm fighting 4 waves, and perhaps Huge can stay at 5 waves, and colossal boarding can be at 10 NPC crew members per wave, so in general to make taking the Flagships of the Fleet, First and Second Rate Line Ships, and all the ships with large crews daunting Tasks to board. So an Winvincible with all it's crew intact (825) at 10 crew per wave would have..... 82/83 waves..... depending on how to count the last 5 crew memebers. Perhaps just the initail combat could start out with any extra crew members coming all out in the first crew wave? Nuju- |

Yeah, because making it so low levels cannot even beat AFK level 50s in the new avcom system was not enough, now we need to nerf how much crew their smaller ships have.

I'm not saying I like the avcom system. I don't. I just don't think it makes sense for crew number to make so little difference to boarding.

I just want it to be done faster. Boarding is virtually a death wish in ship combat now, even if you have the other side outnumbered. A boarded ship has no more defense than an NO or Bucc but can't guard it's stern.

I agree that it takes too long, but this isn't the way to fix that.

Getting boarded with no waves means you lost the ship combat.
