How does this change the fact that the fastest ships can still kite and/or escape at will? It doesn't reduce the incentive to failfit at all. Its just now they will run away at 28 knots instead of 35, but the end result is the same.

Armor and Cannon mods do not need stacking Penalties.
Only apply this to Speed Mods. Nuju- |

Thus, limiting the % you can put with outfits, reduce the difference. Well, the less the difference, more risky is anything... with .5 knot difference, if you fail a bit in the kiting, you can fall in range. With .5 knot, if you try to break combat, you will stay in range more time. So, IMHO, it will be now harder to kite by speedfitted ships, but still possible. And I am pretty sure there will come some more subtle changes on the speed...

these changes are as hamfisted, terrible and irrelevant to the problem areas of the game as I have predicted.
Speed fitters will still be too fast to be caught by non-speed fitters. However, in return now the combat fitters are now weaker in combat relatively to speed fitters. Especially when it comes to stacking accuracy so you can actually hit these friggin 30kn ships. And no, making the gankers lose 2-3kn will in no way offset the accuracy loss. nevermind that a lot of speed also comes from the perfect speed specs. When a NO in a Cap MC manages to outrun pirates in 16.3 kn base ships I know it's not the fittings that did it. So FLS, you have just buffed ganking...... AGAIN. Beta is irrelevant. Gankers won't play on the beta server, and this system will FAIL FAIL FAIL on live. Another problem is that now tanked heavy ships can easily lose 300+ broadside armor from these changes. Gotta say - YAY for more 1-shotting on the OS. Really awesome. Also, this raises a very interesting question about outfittings of different quality. If I have a runners rig for 7.6% and a engineered 5 for 8.5% on a ship, which one of them is getting the penalty? Words cannot express my disappointment any further, and I don't want to, so I'm back to playing some SC2. At least that's a game somewhat balanced without BS. If you don't want to kill the game with this, you have to at the very least redo ALL outfittings again because many are just terribly balanced. |
