and same with wenden. A mastercraft and heavy wenden might be a bit to OPd tho...
Those would kind of negate the point of taking 1st and 2nd rates out though.

What would negate it? I'm saying that if we do this, we dont include wenden mcs or heavies.

A valiant mastercraft would, I assume, be a valiant with more armour, DR, sails, guns etc. And so it would basically be a 2nd rate. If you want refits with a different flavour, but in no way more powerful than the valiant or wenden, then i'm with you, but heavy and mastercraft upgrades on basic ships are usually alot more powerful - see the capricieux to capricieux mc or heavy, defiant to defiant mc, hercules to herc mc or heavy, etc.

The wenden is not much more powerful than the valiant. It has equal ranged spike/dps, and less armour and DR. For the pb role, there isn't a huge gap between them, at least not on the scale of vanilla -> mc/heavy upgrades.

I think all the current refits should be worse than the base ship in some aspects, equal in most, and only have a few characteristics slightly improved.

no im thinking a valiant mc will be about like a wenden. And plus, look at the treason. It's basically a 2nd rate.

Except that it's not

And combined with the buc skillset, Wenden easily > Treason.

^If you'd been talking like this on the campaign trail, I'd have voted for you.

like i think the val MC could just add 10% armor 10% on acc an turn...which for a val is negligible 10% relod and say 1 or 2 lbs per deck...But NO more guns still would be 72 on its strenght

the wenden should remain the top of the chart everything else has to fall in below it...So a lseek wenden might be ok...say with lighter guns 20s instead of 24s....
id rule out heavy and MC wendens unless they would be still 84 guns and deemed no too powerful

this would give NOs more ships

and id love to see an MC posiden that brings it up to wenden strenght...

say 22 lb gundeck

yah know before if u had a 1st rate u didnt bring it to every battle--u sailed that for big battles..then your val for rats and your wenden..or mace---so u sorta hedged because you had a 1st rate and u had to worry about replacing that so even a wenden wasnt smart for every battle when u were thinking of losing your first....

but now that u dont have to worry about first replacement u can sail a wenden every battle...it will get boring FAST so yeah we need posiden Alex mourdaunt and valiant variants

More 3rds/4ths wouldn't make this game more fun for this ship builder. After the first few deeds, it gets boring. It's not all that complicated, ship building in this game is easy. Adding a few more copies of everything else would mean nothing. Even with 1st/2nds... after you made the first one... wasn't much to building another.

its more about variety and having more than one boats to sail...i mean if i resubbed id goto every battle in a wenden --beofre i mighta used a 3rd or fourth cuz i had to worry about losing my 1st rate in a PB...now with all that extra cash from not building 1stst i can just sail wendens till the cows come home....sorta gets old fast....
