Talking Career Help

I have been thinking long and hard what career to go into.

I was going to be a pirate but didn't like the Idea of having nobody else on your side.

So I thought I would become a naval Officer for the big strong ships but then remembered how annoying the small fast ships were in other pirate games.

I thought to myself, I would like to be one of the small and fast ships that always bug me.

So I am wondering should I be a privateer? or a free trader? I want a fast ship but free traders are made out to be hopeless in combat, I'm not sure though. I want to do combat and like the idea of going with a group of ships from a certain nation in my little fast ship helping to guard the big NO ships.

What career would be the best for me? Thanks.

No one is on your side as a National either. All 4 groups are fighting each other.

Privateer and FreeTrader are both versitile classes. Unless your going to do much with the economy I would go Privateer. FreeTrader is best if you want a hybrid class that mixes in trade skills and ships. Privateer is better if your looking for more dedicated combat.

FYI: I am a Freetrader, and have sunk many more Pirates and Spanish players then I have been sunk myself. They are very effective in combat when played correctly. I can go 1 on 1 with anything short of a SOL and either win or be able to get a draw... Well perhaps except a NO in a Lancer.. those things are nasty.

It sounds like a privateer is what you're looking for,

you get fast ships and as a side bonus you get sanctioned piracy.

Sanctioned piracy is a bonus?

Naval Officer has some good skills, and the Mediator lvl 12, and Lancer lvl 21-ish are great fast ships.

The question is, do you prefer groups or solo, open sea improptu combat, or slugging it out in port battles?

Of course you can always make one of each, as we have multiple character slots on the server.
