hi there,

i've created a sail for my society, but it was rejected with the following reason:

Have a look online for Baroque and Renaissance art for inspiration. Also have a look at the Wiki Commons Heraldry page for more useful art: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Heraldry Modern artwork styles (such as Anime, Disney or other cartoons, modernist/post-modernist styles, etc.) are not appropriate to the setting.
heres the image

i don't understand the problem it looks good in the 2D Content Preview tool. maybe someone can help me or give me a hint how i could manage this sign to be ok for the pirates team

they have made a bit of a mistake here, it does not have over saturated colours, but it IS full of gradients

That is some incredibly cool artwork but I think it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to get all of the gradient and detail out of it. I'm afraid my best advice would be to start over.

Perhaps this will be of help to get you pointed in the right direction...

Just keep posting your results in this thread for advice and critique until you feel like you've got something that can be approved. Good luck!

P.S. Keep in mind, simpler is better.

Np, I'm glad my tut's are helpful
Are you trying for a painted effect here?

I agree, it looks like you are going for a painted look, right? That's a really tough effect to pull off but it might be the only way to save this one. I like what you've done so far but you'll need to add horizontal bands of flaking. See example below.

yep, thats my variant of a painted effect, i've downloaded the texture package below your videos on youtube but the painted texture seems to be lost (or i'm to dumb to find it ^^)
so i took just this one found via google:

Yes horizontal only. Inspect the witch image above for clues. The gradients won't matter if you can make it look painted.

If you still want to use it, the painted texture is under sail textures, make sure you have the latest version of the archive.
