My only concern would be the flush deck - I know this is a period-accuracy concern for larger ship models, not so sure about smaller ones... |

Ships like this with a flush deck did exist in the PotBS period, the real design elements that are too modern are the knuckle lines along the bottom of the hull (that angled modern rowboat look). More importantly though are gameplay balancing issues of this many guns on this small of a ship.

How does anyone feel about me working on the frigate on Chapman plate 31 http://covax.bth.se/chapmanprojekt/ritningar.html?X31
Seems to me to have a 14 gun gundeck, a six gun upper deck and a pair of bow and a pair of stern chasers, giving it a 40 gun broadside and four extra cannon. Think that's doable?

I already posted this in the steering forum but wanted to post it here as well because this one is asked about occasionally:
It's fine for tutorial purposes but cannot be used in-game. It's the Swedish frigate Jupiter, I believe built in 1787. It's almost identical to her sister ship Venus of 1789: http://www.orlogsbasen.dk/visskib.asp?Skib=Venus&la=4 |

Ok, Kris is Awesome and gave me a whole bunch of possibilities...
I were decidin' 'tween two vessels, both o' which be apparently cursed.. arr.. the Diamond an' the Falster; Cap'n Wood tried t' persuade me t' go wi' the Falster seein' as how its plans be easier on the eye, arr.. but I decided the Diamond be proper ship shape, an' I be no lubber who be havin' troubles wi' blurry plans. ![]() Ahem. So yeah I'm going to be doing the Diamond http://www.orlogsbasen.dk/tegn/A668.jpg

I have barely any details on that gunbarge i posted, and nobody seems to really like it. So im putting that in the freezer for a good while
![]() In the meantime, id like to share some plans, and get your comments on some as well. Royal dutch yachts, http://img834.imageshack.us/i/10g1722.jpg/ http://img192.imageshack.us/i/12g1778.jpg/ Dutch Frigates (28, 36 and 46 guns) http://img522.imageshack.us/i/28gunknown.jpg/ http://img706.imageshack.us/i/36gunknown.jpg/ http://img444.imageshack.us/i/46g1745.jpg/ Thinking of claiming that fine looking 36 gunner as my next project. Thoughts? |

The first yacht looks to be after the 1770s so won't be accepted in-game. The second one however has an older style (probably 1740s?) and would be acceptable.
Of the frigates the only one even close to in-period is the 1745 two decker. The others are much much later, you can tell from the figureheads and how they lean forward instead of vertical. Edit: On second glance over these, that 46 gun from 1745 is VERY exciting ![]() |

Yet then when i did some more research it did actually have some sailing capacity. It could be on the open sea for 4 weeks with the full crew of 40 people. Maybe nice to have her approved after all?
