Wenden Date 1705 Danish Ship of the Line Plans.Wenden Length: 53.3919 Meters. Beam: 13.81908 Meters Guns 72-70 = 24-24, 24-18, 16-8, 8-6 2 Stern Chasers, probably 2 bow chasers After the ELEPHANTEN of 1703, and the JUSTITIA of 1707, WENDEN was the next largest Danish battleship to be constructed in the twenty-three year period between the building of the colossal FREDERICUS QUARTUS, in 1699, and the DRONNING ANNA SOPHIA, completed in 1722, two years after the conclusion of the Great Northern War in 1720. Aside from being one of Denmark's largest battleships of her day, WENDEN was also beautiful, though certainly not as beautiful as the incomparable ELEPHANTEN, or perhaps the later, and larger, JUSTITIA of 1707. Judichær's colored design plans of the WENDEN's stern galleries survive in the Danish archives, and they are an excellent adjunct to Judichær's surviving lines plans for the configuration of WENDEN's hull - together, they permit a nearly complete modern impression of the WENDEN's overall appearance, including the ship's decorative scheme. Judichær's wooden construction model of the WENDEN, showing interior construction detail, still exists, and forms part of the Orlogsmuseet's model collection. STATUS: In-Game

This ship has many names as follows "GroBe Yacht", "New Yacht", "Great Yacht", "Golden Yacht", or "Doro Yacht". The found the following info about it on the web. Quote: The Great Yacht which is also called New Yacht or Gold Yacht was built by G. Peckelhering in 1678 - 1679 in Kolberg per sample of sea yacht of prince William III. The length of Great Yacht was 70 feet (according to another source - 72 feet). The width was 21 feet and the draft - 5 feet. The Yacht had eight cannon ports. The crew consisted of 12 persons; during wartime it increased to 50 persons. The Yacht was a good sailboat. Since 1680 it was based in Pillau, in 1693 it navigated to Amsterdam, in 1694 it made a voyage from Emden to London conveying the Branderburg ambassador T. von Dankelmann. At the end of the 1690s and up to 1700 it was in Berlin, then again in Emden till in 1721 it became worthless. * Type of craft - Yacht * A link to or scan of your source plans - Plan1 Plan2 Plan3 * Length along the waterline - 21.18 meters from end of rudder to keel * Breadth - 6.5 meters * Draught - 1.5 meters * Armament - 8 @ 6 pounds * A link to a feedback thread - Project Thread EDIT 10/06/2006 -- Status: Provisionally Approved -- MvG |

Vaisseau de 24 canons, 5eme rang
From Paris's plans, a 5th Rate Frigate of 24 guns. Unlike most of the ships in so far this will be, like Cornwallis' frigate a two decked ship. She has 16 guns on the upper deck and a partial lower deck of 8 guns. I plan to do two version one with the lower gun ports closed. This version will be a Merchant version of 16 guns. According to Baudriot she should mount 8lbs guns on the lower deck and 6lbs on the upper deck. Sorry forgot to add the link. She is 34 meters as measured by Paris. Will be in game as of 1.2 as Athena, 24 and Minerva, 36. |

In Game Quote: the S. C. solidly supports the idea of "refitting" the bark to give it more bite. Please verify the plans, but it looks like there would be enough room under the main deck to add a tier of guns -- probably about 8-10 per side. Of course, the upper tier guns would probably be made lighter -- and several possibly be replaced with swivels -- but it would still be a fearsome opponent to encounter. If you're interested in performing the necessary surgery on your bark to accommodate this style of refit, you'll definitely get a green light from The Powers That Be. |
