It all depends on the Captains.

For larger engagements, a 2:1 ratio of Naval Officers to Privateers is about the most popular, but for a 2v2 I don't think it matters much.

2 FT's shouldn't lose to anyone 2vs2 in equal ships.

I've heard people say 1 NO = UP, 2 NO = OP. Being an NO fanboy, I claim all proof of the contratry to be a cause of dirt behind the controls.

2 NOs effectively have 10% more resist all the time.

But I'd rather have 1 NO and 1 FTer I think.

skill>class but class is still there...

For me at least one FT, and maybe a priv to yug and focus, or 2 FT for full dps

You can gos with a Priv but only if hes as good as Taco, if hes not forget it

I'd say FT+Privateer, would prefer it over 2 FTs because of Jugular + signals (FTs don't have stellar accuracy really) + the Privateer's battle preparations, also if disabling line specced then break rudder can be really nice, break formation can be really sweet, etc.
