Sure you'll make less trips , but if you get caught in the khan sailing through the red there is a good chance you'll get away. If you don't you'll lose 1/3 the econ mats than you would have in the Levi. Which probably wont get away from an OS engagement. |

As for the frigate, the Trinidad is a fine boat but like the Khan, it's a bit of an "acquired taste". You need to get familiar with its peculiarities to get the most out of it. In contrast, sailing a Slerc is as easy as falling down. |

Right now im sporting the following:
Mont Blanc- Undecided San Fernando - Fleeting Ship (everyone in the guild brings the biggest ships they have when we go :P Khan - Mission/Hauler Trader Sloop - Smuggler RAA MC - Looking to replace it with a higher end frigate to take over doing missions with my Khan. I have made some arrangements and im not really needing a heavy hauler anymore. SO i'm going to pass on the San Mateo. Currently i use my SF, Trader, Khan for everything. i gotta get more practice with Mont though for pb's ect.. as it seems to be a prime choice.

My personal advice would be to get a Poseidon. With a 30 gun broadside and no excessively large gun weights they are, for me, the perfect balance of spike and DPS in the game right now in terms of cost effectiveness. If you fit one as an FT with 2 Runners, 1 Accurate Gun Tackle and 1 Improved Gun Tackle, 1 Heavy Flanked and 1 Reinforced Hull Mod 3 you have a solid base for fleeting and PBs. You can then keep 2 sets of general fittings on the same boat and switch from fleeting to PBs in a flash, saving yourself a dock space. For fleets I'd go with Discordant Reinforcement 3, Cantonese Powder 3 and Discordant Cannons 3; for PBs Discordant Reinforcement 3, Precise Optical Rangefinder (if affordable) and Cantonese 3, using Repurposed Guns from the Corsarios del Rey missions if you can't afford a rangefinder. It's a very decent ship, cheap enough to lose regularly in PBs, and also pretty to look at which I find important for any ship I use a lot.
For hauling, the BTS is great but with the FT skillset a Curieuse is slightly less likely to be caught. As long as you know skills and how you have either set up you should never be caught. A Monty is probably the best option for a carefree daily machine since you can be mindless in it and PvE will fly by. It's also okay for carefree PvP grouping. A Khan is a ship every FT should have. It's OS fast, it is combat capable (lost track of the loads I have kept just fending off aggressors in mine) and has a good enough capacity for most runs. Yes it is slow, but with the FT skillset it is good enough to put 3 speed mods on and still win even fights. Your 5th spot is the play slot. First word to the wise; don't get a Sleek Herc. Every single one I have ever bought on any class I have scuttled. It's just not a good boat. It has a lot of sails and that's it. For group PvP the Monarch is very cheap and effective if set up right. For 1vs1 the Trinidad is grand on an FT. If Incognito ever gets off his *** and gets his Tigre refits in game FTs will all simultaneously cream themselves. Raas are always fun. Heck even a Hellbrand will pay its way when the next patch limits the odds you face. Also, you have storage so use it. Find your favorite boat and style. On a Cutt I find I play the maneuverable boats best, but on an NO I am much better in the slow DPS monsters and on an FT I like the hybrids. If you fleet regularly enough to have a ship for it you will have money to experiment, so do that. Everyone has a style and if you persevere you will find yours... ![]() |

hmm Khan > Sultan? According to potbs-companion Khan is better at everything but battle top speed. If i'm in a battle the 0.62 turning of a sultan will prob get me killed :P Elessaria i can't get past the Posideon's 550k ah price for a ship thats a "little" better. only 2 dura. Right now my line is this. PB: Mont Blanc - Modded for Accuracy/broadside armor/Dmg Mission/Exploring: Mont Blanc #2 - Modded for Heavy reload/Armor/Battle Speed Smuggling/Tagging: Khan - I got it up to 121.6 on open sea, and it hits hard enough i can sail in tag some ships for pb points and get out like a mail escourt before the husband comes home... Hauler: My hauler has actually been my Mission Mont Blanc.. although i have a little Santiago that an carry over 2k thats about to fill this spot. Might replace with leviathan or San Mateo when the money's right. PVP: This i've had a hard time with, Mont Blanc vs Khan.. I think ill have a second khan for fighting maybe stack a bit of Grappling offense on and do a bit of rage/boarding if i start to lose. I'm not heart broken over this as i'm not too much into pvp. So in reality this will prob end up being my PB Skirm boat. What you think ?
