Traitor and PB in 2.10

We do not have port battle invite changes planned for the 2.10 build. We would like to address issues in the port battle invite system at some time during the year 2012 but do not have any set dates for this yet.

Additionally FLS does not require voice software to play PotBS therefore any traitor flagging done for this reason is both invalid and considered a form of harassment by FLS. Feel free to file a support ticket if you are ever traitor flagged for this and we will investigate it.

If you ever do investigate and punish in some way a player-driven mechanic for actually punishing a traitor, defined as someone detrimental to his side's victory, I will leave this game. You clearly do not understand what a traitor is.

How the hell are you supposed to know what you were flagged for? You don't even tell us WHO flagged. All you get is the message "you've been flagged a traitor"

You are aware of this, right?

Remove the anonymous part of traitor flagging already. It's the worst part of the entire system. Then those flagged can at least ask.

i feel for ya, but vent/ts can be downloaded in 2sec, also u dont have to stay and chat, leave after the pb, only use it to listen to orders, then yr issue is fixed..

You paid for this game? Well, so did we and most of us are serious about about winning port battles. When we have to try to put up with some db like you it puts the rest of us in jeopardy. I don't like losing a ship because guys like you don't want to use something that costs them nothing. Something that's being paid for by others who want to help their side win.

Players will be glad to help you get on vent. All anyone asks is cooperation with the group. Just understand, if you don't want to play nice with your friends, you will be traitor flagged.

The ownership and mod rights of ventrillo are not neutral. Hence being able to flag someone for not wanting to use someones private ventrillo is in need of removal. Unfortunately there is no way to do that without removing traitor flagging. Which needs to happen. Its a fail system, it would never hold up with a serious population.

I was flagged traitor because (I later found out via a third party) they did not like that I bid against them in a captured port Governor election.
There really is something wrong big time with this system when anyone can flag you for no valid reason or when no evidence or proof of traitor behavior exists.

I'm old and crusty too, I can't listen to vent very much, but it is very important for PBs.
You don't need a microphone, just to be able to listen.

...have to go - there are some darn kids on the front lawn that need a good soak with the garden hose...

I agree that voice communication is important in a port battle, but I don't think it should be absolutely mandatory. There are hearing-impaired folks who play this game, they shouldn't be completely shut out of a big part of it.

Some of the most important things that are said in vent during a port battle could be typed, considering that for the most part they are not more than a few words.

I want to add that there are few "squeaky-voiced" little kids that will yell at you. Not many people will tolerate it and will shut that down quickly. By and large most people who speak in vent are mature, especially the PB leaders and group leaders. I encourage you to give it a try.
