The vanilla Couronne is a Valiant in the hands of the freetrader. It is a fantastic ship, and the most manueverable of any rated ship or equivalent. If you can't use freetrader skills to get around 0.8 acceleration and 8.5/3.5 turning, you are simply doing it wrong.

Freetraders should be coming to Port Battles in Couronnes or Poseidons. They take a little more skill to sail, but Mont Blancs will get one shot by any enemy that knows what they are doing. I have proved this time and again, and it's not going to change.

Never thought the Poseidon was worth the extra Dub over a SF personally. I've always been a advocate of the San Fernando though.

The Monty isn't too bad.. it's a weird ship.. Weird in the fact that it's somewhere between a lineship and a skrim boat. It def has some DPS behind it make it a fierce attacker, but total lack of armor/defense/resist make it a easy target. It's like ANY MMO.. the Highest Damage dealers are also the weakest it's how you find balance. If you threw on 14dr or 26 defense on the monty it would be the Lord of the Sea..

I believe that monty's have a place in the PB. You just have to either gear a bit more towards survival or have understanding group mates nearby who realize you hit quick and hard but are a bit squishy.

I couldn't help but laugh. The San Fernando is a sub-par ship in every respect, along the lines of a Mordaunt Sleek. In any PvP situation, you want to bring the best you can in every area. The Posiedon and Couronne are two of the most cost effective heavy ships in the game, as well as being very powerful in a line of battle.

No, it's just a lineship. Freetraders in Mont Blancs cannot go anywhere but downwind at a decent speed, and their maneuverability doesn't really exceed any fourth rate. It's very powerful in heavy PvP, but a bit squishy in port battles; this is magnified significantly when your PB fleet has ten freetraders, which seems to be a regular occurence in your nation.

No, you fit to best maximize your ship's potential. In a Mont Blanc that means damage, damage, and accuracy. Freetraders are force multipliers and should be used for support. That means you want to maximize your damage output, and at range that means a Poseidon or Couronne, with much higher spiking potentials as well as much greater base survivability, are much more suitable. A San Fernando is no better in any area than a Mont Blanc, while being less manueverable and having significantly worse DPS.

PvP is a numbers game. If you understand the hundreds of variables, you'll win nearly every time against someone who doesn't.

You're giving the Fernie a harsh deal. It is sub-par for port battles (like the Sleek Mordaunt) but it's a cheap and effective ship for PvP, because, as we all know, people shouldn't sail what they can't afford to sink in.

However, for a PB ship the Poseidon is most definitely worth the extra cost, and if you can't afford to bring one to PB you really shouldn't be going yet, IMO.

For a Bucc: you can get a Treason, which is currently the most heavily armoured, heavily armed brick that can be built, or a Bahamut which has to be the best value for money of any refit lineship, and then being rats sometimes you'll be in a frigate fleet anyway.

P.S. FT should always be in a Poseidon because it makes Elune QQ. Other reasons are secondary

Unless the info here is wrong then I don't understand how the Poseidon is so awesome..

Battle speed/turning? SF wins.

Defense? Same except SF has 4 more on mast.

DR? Same except Bow DR is 1 point higher on a Posi

Armor?

SF vs Posei
2825 vs 3200 Structure
1835 vs 1880 Sides
925 vs 940 Bow
450 vs 470 Stern
3245 vs 3400 Mast

With exception of the Structure, the difference is so little it hardly matters. a bit more structure there on Posei (see im trying to be bias)

DMG?

Ship SF POSEI
200yrds DPS 26.9 28.8
400yrds DPS 23.3 25.6

so at 200 Posei gets +1.9
so at 400 Posei gets +1.3

Gundeck lvl Accuracy is the same for both.

Posei is trading off a little bit of Battle Maneuvering for a tiny bit more armor and dps. the Burst for a poseidon is 70points higher.

So, it's not a huge difference really.. I can't see why people should give up a 125k SF to go buy a 500k Posei.

Target Tracking is the same as well.
