So i'm learning that Rats in PB's are not as well off doing the classic line fight style. So i'm wondering why people have not tried saying forget the damn line fight, lets load up 24 hercs of all types and charge their damn line?


Just curious why everyone tries to pull a line fight out ouf a pb.

they already do this as well. it is reffered to as the to mean to die charge.

and rats can line fight. it all depends on there discipline.

Rats are amazing brawlers and their group buffs make nats really unhappy (try shooting through 3-4 Woolfpack hunters, huh?).

Main problem with rats in PBs are: dicipline and they try to fight nats as nats.. Instead of going up close and blowing **** out of the water...
Old VPA used to do it very well in PBs... if they were able to orginize the ppl.

Don't tear this apart, a few general liberties are taken.

You have to look at the classes and the strength in their skills sets. Rats were built to be fast, get up close, disable, kill crew and well brawl. Rats can turn (based on ship choice too) much more effectively than any Nat class (again ships matter). So typically Rats will be outranged by NOs, with NOs having bigger guns and longer reload times, RATs if played correctly can get in close very quickly inbetween broadsides and get dirty. Typically that's how it's done, well should be done.

And to be honest, when most NATs are rushed, but other nats or pirates the less experience captains panic, loose focus fire and it all goes to hell....

NOs aren't meant to turn, they are meant to sail big ships, with big guns and line fight. Privs are meant to sail frigates, and really perform more like a CT than any other class.

FTs, well group buffs are nice, but even being a career long FT, they shouldn't be in PBs....(duck and cover!!!) or just look at the other bajillion threads about it and yes, I sail FTs to a PBs...rarely but I do.

Properly boated rats with good co-ordination can linefight just fine.

Brawling is easier when you have no co-ordination or russians who are not in vent, thats why it tends to happen more often. Also, pirates>nats for manouv.
