Didn't work for me. I tried doubling it, tripling it and other values and still got out of memory errors. I have 8 gigs on this computer.

It seems to work for some but not others and from the posts I have seen the more memory you have the worse the problem gets. I have 6 gigs and if I spend a day hauling between TB and PR I will see about a dozen errors and several "texture corruption" problems (alt+tabbing fixes that at least). Setting texture detail to medium completely gets rid of the problem for me which isn't ideal but at least works.

The issue is down to memory fragmentation according to a post by Misha I saw. Basically the engine is looking for an continuous area of memory to load something into and can't find one. I don't know if it is the PotBS engine or one of the "middleware" packages like Alchemy they use but I suspect it's the middleware. This would explain why FLS have had such trouble trying to fix it, if the original vendor no longer supports it they won't help FLS find a fix.

I have 16GB and get it regularly, despite all setting changes. It's directly related somehow to other users being in the area. I can do solo missions for hours without a problem or sailing around npcs, but any move in a populated area fires it off quickly.

Finally a solution that worked. I edited the pirates_local and alchemy_local ini files and had no effect. I have a great machine with (extreme internet cable speed, lol) and wasn't sure if my problem was linked to win 7 64 or not. Good thing it wasn't.

So I simply edited the main pirate ini and alchemy ini files and voila - your fixes worked flawlessly. I was crashing at 1.2 GB ram instantly and now sitting at 1.3 with no issues.

Thanks very much to the OP and and if anyone else has had no luck I suggest trying the main ini's (after a back-up) along with Remus's idea of a space (return) at the end of the command entry. That seemed to do the trick!

They will never fix this bug.

Because, as was stated on a totaly different topic, but also an issue that has been asked to be fixed for the past 2 years, bad things happen when they fix things... Real bad things...

Hunt around the troubleshooting section and you will see how quiet FLS are on the subject. The only real statement I found when researching the problem when I first started playing was that FLS could not reproduce the error (cannot fix if cannot repro) and the one from Misha mentioned in my last post. If it is middleware causing the problem there is a very good chance there is nothing at all FLS can do about it.

Now that is an interesting fact. Changing the _local copies didn't work at all for me but having just had a proper look through the files I found this.

Now all other comments in the file have ; as the indicator and # is another common tag for comments. Is alchemy_local.ini even being loaded?

Even if # is valid for include statements that doesn't look right.

Default Video Driver Crashing!

I know that this may be a little off topic but I'm no computer wizard so I thought this might be a relative issue, whenever I open the game I am able to play for about 5 minutes and then the game freezes up sending my computer to a black screen from which I have to reboot my whole system. There was one time where I got an error saying that my video driver had stopped working but I'm not sure if this is the core of the problem or what. This is the only game in which I have experienced this problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. I have been able to previously play this game with no problems so why is it acting up now? If anyone has any input I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Connor
