Pointe-a-Pitre. In a stunning development, the French Navy continued to roll forward to attempt to retake the Burning Sea from the British horde. The French Admiralty announced to crazed and very drunk crowds this evening at this French stronghold that rum and teak for building new ships were on its way! The French Navy was successful in liberating the town of Charlestown from the British and has regrouped to further press the attack in the coming days.
The French Navy consisted of 23 sturdy ships (one was lost at sea en-route), including 9 HMCs, and a wide assortment of Reasons, MBs, a Poseidon, and 3rd Rates. The British Navy seemed equal to the task, also with 24 ships, including 6 HMCs, a Trinity 2nd rate, and a similar assortment of MB, Poseidon’s and 3rd and 4th rates. Both navies clashed at the Harbor. Fair winds shined on the French Navy and the armada was able to sail towards town from the west. The fearsome British horde sailed from the south to meet our French heroes. Both navies skirmish groups collided near the town gun emplacement and a fierce battle ensued with the British skirmish fleet retreating south after losing two and leaving their heavy line to fend for themselves. The British, sensing the danger, charged from their position in haste. A brawl ensured where good line discipline was lost. Tense Fighting ensued with gallantry displayed from both sides as the guns blazed into the night. At dawn, when the smoke cleared, the town’s people came out of their shelters to see the French Flag once again raised high from the town square. Rejoiced and sang cheers of loyalty to the arriving French sailors. Women threw themselves at the feet of the victors and celebrations spontaneously occurred throughout the Caribbean. On such a joyous day, it is important to remember those brave souls that perished in defense of their Country. For a sailor respects the dead of all sides of any engagement at sea and the French Admiralty solemnly announced that the fleet had lost 10 ships to enemy action. The British, meanwhile, had 19 ships lost at sea in the initial engagement (including the Trinity), with 5 withdrawing to the fort and to flee the battle to report the horror of the occasion to the British High Command. The French Fleet, however, had little time to resupply, re-arm, and seek the loving embrace of their companions before orders were issued for the Fleet to head south towards a destination unknown. With *Grim* determination, the French Navy pressed ahead with all speed to attempt to offset the gains already made by the British.
