Pointe-a-Pitre. In dramatic fashion, the French Admiralty reported that the French Navy was once again victorious in defeating a very heavy British force at St. John’s. This port, a major shipbuilding hub for the Brits, will certainly change things as the underdog French forces begin to regain a foothold in the Antilles. Reeling from consecutive losses at sea, the British Navy was seen sailing off towards Bridgetown in hopes of regrouping with reinforcements. The party raged on at the French Capital with this new announcement. A curfew had to be set to keep the drunken crowd off the streets. The coming days may decide the Battle for the Burning Sea as the French set sail again immediately following a short break at the new port.
The French Navy consisted of 24 sturdy ships (two were lost at sea en-route), including LARGE number of HMCs, and a wide assortment of Reasons, MBs, Poseidons, and 3rd Rates. The British Navy seemed equal to the task, with 24 ships (one that scuttled itself at the start of action), including 6 HMCs, a large number of 3rd rates, and a similar assortment of MB, Poseidon’s and 4th rates. Both navies clashed near Savage Cliffs. Fair winds shined on the French Navy and the armada was able to sail down the center channel towards town from the west. The fearsome British horde came out to meet the French at the channel mouth, but gave wind and split into multiple groups. The French Skirmish was able to take advantage of this situation and sunk a number of ships before the British were able to regroup (some having to sail at close haul to do this). A fierce battle ensued with the French fleet getting the better of the British by sinking a few more ships of the line while tending to the wounded. The Brits sailed near the British fort for safety, but did not remain there as they regrouped and chose to fight at sea and try to turn the battle’s momentum. Eventually this effort failed and the British colors were lowered. Tense Fighting ensued with gallantry displayed from both sides as the guns blazed into the night. At dawn, when the smoke cleared, the town’s people came out of their shelters to see the French Flag once again raised high from the town square. On such a joyous day, it is important to remember those brave souls that perished in defense of their Country. For a sailor respects the dead of all sides of any engagement at sea and the French Admiralty solemnly announced that the fleet had lost 11 ships to enemy action. The British, meanwhile, had 22 ships lost at sea in the initial engagement, with 1 to flee to the fort to report the battle’s horrible costs to the British High Command. The French Fleet, however, had little time to resupply, re-arm, and seek the loving embrace of their companions before orders were issued for the Fleet to head south towards a destination unknown. With *Grim* determination, the French Navy pressed ahead with all speed to attempt to offset the gains already made by the British within the Caribbean.

Maybe I don't need to go to Britain for some RP. I could stay with the Evil Empire of French Veterans.
Good job all sides. A bloody battle. I would expect nothing less. Tomorrow is Britain's Bloody Sunday - only it's a Saturday. Fair Weather to all Captains. |
