Times and times again, it seems the Devs have tried to make this game as carebear-friendly as possible. The new group strenght mechanism is just one more nail in the coffin of PvP on PotBS. Yet, PvP (and RvR) is perhaps the best selling point of this game. Let's face it, compared to many other games, there is little (and not always completed, ah!) PvE content to keep going past level 50. Once you're done with the three epic runs - half a day, tops - it's over.
The game was designed for PvP and RvR. Yet, we keep going back and making it as easy as possible for people... to avoid PvP and RvR. How does that make sense? Not all people know about OS logging, of course, but all those who do will gladly abuse it, coupled with NPC jumping. To them, the red isn't a problem anymore. They follow one NPC in, they tag it. They leave the battle, OS log if they see enemies still around. Find a new NPC otherwise. They can log back in and out ad nauseam as there is no way to tag them. I addressed NPC jumping in another suggestion. For this one, I'm going to address the problem of OS logging in PvP zones as it is killing ad hoc PvP. Nothing is more frustrating than cornering enemies in big valuable ships - or haulers - only to see them NPC up and then OS log in and out non stop until you grew tired of it. It makes a mockery of the PvP system of this game. It makes going through red zones a consequence-free thing. Suggestion: 1)If you are in a redzone; OR 2)If you are PvP flagged (voluntarily, invalid ship or aggression flagged); You should be unable to log out on the OS OR it should take two times the lenght of the 'invincibility' aura you get to give a chance to your opponents to tag you. Red zones are meant to be PvP zones. Not 'tag NPCs and get off free' zones. P.S: It goes with this suggestion: http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95048 |

The strength mechanic and the rumoured level limit are for me what has saved the game, the game was never fun fighting 1v6 or being splattered as low level by some level 50 guy in a slerk just for "fun".
I've been around a long time too and quite frankly all I ever used to do was economy. Now all I do is PvP so I guess it depends on how you play the game. I used to just do economy because at the time that was pretty much enough for me but now with F2P the enjoyment of that has reduced to point where I don't want to do it seriously anymore. Having done everything else in game, I have set myself the most stupid of challenges, to level a character from PvP and whilst at times its been painfully slow I am enjoying it far more than if I were to reroll yet another alt via fleets and missions. I appreciate there are some guys out there taking advantage of the new rules but for me they are so much better than the old be in a group or be gone. As for redzone opensea logging, the only players I have seen do this are those that have also been around forever and a day (judging by their society). Personally I don't think you should be able to log out on the open sea whether in the red or not. |

The ability to npc up is the only thing that gives the less experienced players a chance to avoid fighting the hard core vets
You know the guys who spend 24/7 pvping IF you remove it then you will have even less people in the re zones |
