Selling Your Goods Wax Seal Decoration

Once you begin the manufacturing process, you need customers for your products. You have a few different options: other players, the Junk Merchant, the Trainer, and the Shop. First though you will need to consider the issue of Weight.

Weight

You may have noticed that the cargo Weight appears in the Trading window (as well as in some others). The Weight of the cargo being moved from one point to another cannot exceed the capacity at the destination; otherwise, the transfer cannot occur.

For example, if you have a 250 unit (Weight is measured in units) capacity in your Ship's Hold, and you are currently carrying 50 units of cargo, you cannot accept more than 200 additional units onto your ship.

If you completely fill your hull with cargo, the Buy or Trade button will be disabled and you will be provided with a tooltip telling you that your inventory cannot hold that much weight.

To check the current Weight and Capacity of your ship, on the Toolbar click on the Inventory button, and then click on the Ship Hold tab.

There is also a limit on stack size and number of stacks. To get around this limit you can break up stacks or stack items together. To combine or split stacks right click on the stack you are concerned with and select Split inventory or Combine All Stacks.

Selling to Other Players

One way of getting rid of your goods is by trading goods with other players. You can trade goods for doubloons or for other materials.

Consider going into business with another player. For example, imagine you want to try to corner the market in Brass Ship Fittings.

You could open several copper and zinc mines (the raw materials needed to smelt Brass). With ten slots mining ore you will be producing a large volume of raw copper and zinc. Pass these materials to another player who has ten Forges who can smelt the copper and brass to produce the fittings.

The Junk Merchant

In some cases, you may want to quickly sell items to generate some fast cash. You can accomplish this goal in any Shop by talking with the Junk Merchant.

The Junk Merchant has a Junk Shop, and he will buy most raw materials and manufactured goods on the spot; however, you will typically get only a fraction of the goods' actual value. The Junk Merchant will always buy the loot items you capture or scavenge from defeated ships.

The Junk Merchant will only buy items that are in your Ship's Hold. If you choose to sell items from your Warehouse, move the items into your Ship's Hold first.

You may also purchase some items from the Junk Merchant, but only use him as a last resort. He will typically charge more than the item is worth.

The Trainer

Most ports have trainers who can teach you various skills specific to your Swashbuckling school: Fencing, Dirty Fighting, or Florentine. You can sell personal items to any of these trainers by speaking with them and clicking on Swashbuckling Supplies.

These trainers will only buy items from your Personal Inventory, and they cannot buy items in your Warehouse or from your Ship's Hold. Be warned, you will get only a fraction of the actual value of your goods.

Just like the Junk Merchant, you may also purchase Swashbuckling Supplies from the Trainer, but also only use the Trainer as a last resort. The quality of what he offers is usually sub-standard.
