The Warehouse Wax Seal Decoration

As you plunder and pillage your way through the Caribbean you will be awarded with a wide variety of items. These items will include ammunition (which you may use during battle or trade), raw materials (which you may use to construct other items or sell), Loot (which you can sell at the Junk Dealer), and manufactured goods (which you can use for a variety of purposes or sell). Unfortunately your Ship's Hold carries a limited number of items, thus you will need a Warehouse.

A Warehouse is a personal storage depot where you may store your booty. Warehouses are also used for storing items that you might buy at the Shop or manufacture from your structures.

Deciding Where to Build a Warehouse

Before you construct your Warehouses, you should have some idea of what role you want to play in the economy. For example, you may want to become a weapon supplier and manufacture cannon balls, cannons, speed gun rigs and more. On the other hand you might want to specialize in sail outfitting, including items like nimble rigs, speed rigs and tar coated rigging.

Warehouses are safe-other players may not be capture, pillage, or loot Warehouses. In the event that another nation captures the port where your Warehouse is located, you will still have access to the contents of the Warehouse.

Whatever role you decide to play, you should locate your Warehouses in ports where they will do you the most good. If your selected Production Line (see the Production Line section) requires a lot of iron, you should place a Warehouse in a port where iron ore is available. If you will be weaving hemp canvas for sails, you should put a Warehouse in a port where a hemp plantation can be built.

Nation Starting Port Capital Regional Markets
France Charlesfort Pointe-à-Pitre Pensacola
Pirate Marsh Harbour Tortuga N/A
Britain Jenny Bay Port Royal Rosignol
Spain Vera Cruz San Juan Barilla
The Netherlands N/A N/A Oranjestad

Although you should place your Warehouses in the right location, do not be overly concerned about placing the first one—like most structures, you can demolish and rebuild Warehouses elsewhere. That said keep in mind that while the number of Warehouses you can build is not limited, the cost of construction goes up exponentially with each additional Warehouse.

In addition to any Warehouse you build, you are granted 12 free Warehouses: one in each nation's starting port, and one in each port with a Regional Auction House (which include each Nation's Capital plus four additional ports). These Warehouses are permanent, and may not be moved or demolished. Before you can use these Warehouses, you must first visit the auctioneer in their respective ports.

Building Your Warehouse

You may construct a Warehouse in any port that provides Public Docks.

Here is an example of the contents of a Warehouse: (A) quantity of goods vs. total storage space, (B) items in your Warehouse, and (C) Structure slots.

To see whether a port offers Public Docks, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Toolbar click the World Map button World Map button to open the World Map.
  2. On the World Map hover over the specific port to bring up a tooltip with information about that port.
Note: Not only will the tooltip indicate if Public Docks are available, but the tooltip also describes what resources are available in that port.

To construct a Warehouse in a specific port, first you must travel to that port. To construct a Warehouse, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Toolbar click the Economy button Economy button to open the Economy window.
  2. On the Economy window click on the Build Warehouse button. A confirmation window will appear with the price of building the Warehouse.
Note: The price of building a Warehouse increases exponentially with each Warehouse you build. Meaning the first Warehouse will be 200 doubloons (db), the second 3200 db, the third 16200 db, etc. Specifically, the cost is determined by the following formula:

   (([Number of warehouses you own] + 1)^4) * 200

To view the contents of a Warehouse, on the Toolbar click the Economy button Economy button. If you do not have a Warehouse and are not in a port with Public Docks, clicking the Economy button will give you a description of how to begin building your empire.

Keep in mind, to use the contents of a Warehouse you own, you must be in the same port as the Warehouse. Items may be moved between your Ship's Hold and your Warehouse by dragging them between your inventory and Warehouse windows.
