As you may have read, we will be releasing some new port battle encounters in 1.19, and we’re also giving each existing port battle encounter its own swashbuckling rooms.

Port Battle encounters are complex beasts with many moving parts, and they need careful testing before they’re released into the wild.

Part of that testing involves seeing how the new environments hold up when actual players are using them.

So, we’re going to do some testbed events! The first two events will be this week, on Thursday, September 24th at 1pm Pacific (9pm BST / 6am AEST (Friday)) and Friday, September 25th at 11.30am Pacific (7.30pm BST / 4.30am AEST (Saturday)).

This is your chance to be one of the first people to see the new encounters, and get a head start forming strategies to dominate them!

Be warned though – in the first couple of events things could be very broken since this is their first public outing. You’ll need to have some patience while we wrangle everyone to be at the right place at the right time.

Here’s what we need you to do to take part:

1. Update Testbed to the latest version, and then be online at the time mentioned above. If you already have a level 50 character on TB, please be sure his skills, outfitting etc are ready and working before the event.
    
   
2. Gather in the starting town for your nation.
    
   
3. GMs will be on hand to hand out money and levels if you need them. They will also add contention points to make you eligible for the port battle.
    
   
4. Once you receive your invite and the battle begins, go directly to the Swashbuckling part of the port battle. You’ll have a chance to play through one full battle at the end of the event, but for the first few we want to focus on the forts and towns.
    
   
5. Tell us about your experience by visiting the Testbed forum!

We will be handing out money and levels before the event starts, so come a little early if you only have a low level character on Testbed, or if you need to prep your character. Event participants will be awarded with the title “Conscript of [your nation]” AND a fancy and exclusive new belt in the live game.
