General Skills

General skills are available to everyone in every fighting school, and do not cost any skill points to learn. You begin with all these skills available when you create a new character, and can start using them immediately.

Thrust
ATTACK.
Cost: 0 Initiative
Single Target

Your basic attack skill. Its major drawback is that it is single-target only, which limits its usefulness in larger fights. Because it costs no Initiative to use, it's a good choice for recovery after a larger, Initiative-consuming attack.

Sweep
ATTACK.
Cost: 40 Initiative
AOE 90 degree arc
Damage: +20%.

A basic area-effect skill. This skill's high Initiative cost means that it is quickly made obsolete by skills in your chosen fighting school.

Stance: Defense
STANCE.
Cost: 5 Initiative, 3/sec
Ongoing: +5% parry, +5% dodge, +1 guard recovery rate.

Defensive Stance will make you more difficult to hit and increase your guard healing rate, but at the cost of initiative. The initiative cost will likely make it difficult to use more powerful attacks frequently.

Stance: Sprint
STANCE.
Cost: 0 Initiative
Ongoing: +33% movement speed. Cannot be used in combat; effect ends if you enter combat.

An out-of-combat skill to make moving around town easier. It's free, so you should use it whenever possible.

Shoot
ATTACK.
Cost: 0 Initiative
Single Target

Your basic gun attack skill. As with other gun skills, this will trigger a 10 second cooldown for all your gun skills, and it is single-target only. Gun attacks cannot be parried, making this skill difficult for enemies to evade.
