Cross Teaming

Many of you have asked us our policy relating to people using two accounts to “cross-team”, which is when one player uses two different accounts to play characters of different nations on the same server. As you are aware, game mechanics are such that you are not allowed to play two characters of opposing nations on a single account.

In keeping with that mechanic, we will be actively enforcing that rule to apply to individuals using two accounts to sidestep that limitation.

While players are welcome to have as many accounts as they wish, people with multiple accounts are not allowed to have characters of differing nations on the same server. If a player is found in violation of this policy, they will be forced to either move or delete the character in violation. Repeat offenders will be subject to further disciplinary action, up to and including permanent suspension of their Pirates of the Burning Sea accounts.

12/10/08 UPDATE: This expectation also applies to families, significant others and roommates that share a home and play multiple accounts. A good rule of thumb: If it looks like cross-teaming, we will treat it as cross-teaming. So play fair and make sure you are following the rules outlined in this policy.

Selling Durability to Pirates

From this point on, the selling of durability to pirates is a practice that is no longer allowed. Players who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, with repeat offenders risking permanent suspension of their Pirates of their Pirates of the Burning Sea account.

These policies are in effect immediately. Those individuals participating in the behaviors listed above are put on notice that we will be enforcing these policies across the board, without exception.

Players with multiple accounts containing characters of a different nation on the same server are encouraged to submit a support ticket requesting a character transfer and our customer support staff will be more than happy to assist you. Players opting to do this will be free from any disciplinary action. As always, all players are welcome to have characters of differing nations, provided those characters remain on different servers.

We understand that these two practices have been a source of great contention for many people on both sides and we hope that these policies provide greater clarity for all involved. Take note: threads posted to our forums discussing the issue or identifying players that are presumed to be in violation of these rules will be removed. The only appropriate venue for additional questions or concerns is a support ticket, which you can access by visiting this link.

Best,
Aether
