Introduction
Fortaleza da Luz was once the strategic fortress of the Knights of Christ. During the 1520s, the great Mayan warrior Born of Ashes overtook Fortaleza da Luz and decided it would be his future burial site. He mummified his closest lieutenants, who were possessed by demons, and left to guard Fortaleza da Luz until Born of Ashes’ return. Born of Ashes died elsewhere in the world, but his devoted servants still wait for him in Fortaleza da Luz.

Be prepared!
Before heading to take on Fortaleza da Luz, make sure you’re up to the task. This is a Level 50 Epic mission and will take a few hours from start to finish. Ensure you have a large supply of smelling salts as well as bandages, as you'll be needing plenty of both by the end.
Getting Started
In order to be able to get into the main mission encounter, you will first need to do a number of pre-missions. These are all available at Puerto del Principe.

The town magistrate will ask you to speak with a prisoner named Clement Hoffer. Hoffer has been asking to see you, so use the prison doors located within the magistrate’s office to go down into the prison.
Talk to Hoffer, and you will soon be joined by Balam, a friend of Hoffer’s. Shortly thereafter, Emilo Carreno will interrupt. Carreno claims to be a friend of both Balam and Hoffer, but his true intentions rapidly become clear. Fight Father Carreno with Balam’s help until you chase the demon out of him. Once Carreno becomes himself again, he’ll ask you to speak with the magistrate on Hoffer’s behalf in order to secure his release.
The magistrate will grant Hoffer’s release when you ask for it. Seek out Father Carreno at the church to learn more about Hoffer and the demons that abound. Doing so will give you the next mission in line.

Captain Ix onboard her ship.
The British Naval Captain with his pet Scorpion.
Carreno will send you to speak with Captain Ix Deroix about the work they are performing in the Caribbean and to find out where Mr. Scott Hazel is located.
Once aboard the ship, speak with Captain Ix belowdecks. Engage in a conversation about the work of the group of Captain Ix, Hoffer, and Acon. During your conversation, a disturbance on deck interrupts you: The ship is about to be boarded by the British! Go up on deck and speak with the British naval captain who has boarded the ship.
The captain will inform you that the boat will be seized with or without force. Help Deroix defeat the British naval captain and his three escorts. Kill the British naval officer while Ix and Acon engage the three escorts.
Once you have finished off the British naval officer, help Deroix and Acon kill the three escorts. Once all four British sailors are dead, three more will board the boat. Defeat these sailors to finish the encounter.
After you defeat the second wave, speak with Hoffer. The group decides that something (probably a demon) has taken hold of the British naval captain. You must go seek out the real captain.
Hoffer will point you toward the British longboat tied to the side of the ship just below where you are standing. Click on the British longboat and go to the British ship. Once on board, defeat the eight crewmen you find there.
After you defeat all eight crewmen, go back down the stairs to where the second group of crewmen stood, and enter the doors that were behind them. This leaves you face-to-face with the British naval captain, who has a giant pet scorpion that he claims keeps him alive.
Note: Kill the scorpion first because of the high damage and poison effect it inflicts.
Once you have defeated the British naval captain and his pet, go back through the doors from which you entered and return to Deroix’s ship. Acon will direct you to return to Father Carreno at the church in Puerto del Principe.
Speak with Carreno to complete this mission and receive the next mission in the line.

Mitchell Cruz, El Mustang, James Wilberforce, Artie El Blood and Vin Vega pose after their victory against the demons in Principe.
After speaking with Father Carreno, he will inform you that a group of regulators await you outside the church. Click on the doors of the church to leave and enter the encounter “A Small
and Deadly War.” A group of three people will be waiting for you: Deirdre O’Malley, Otieno Marquez, and Balam.
Speak with O’Malley, who explains that they are there to trap and destroy the demons that have been plaguing Puerto del Principe. Since you are a well-known fighter, you are given the task of keeping Marguez safe while he traps the demons throughout town.
Get the possessed person’s attention by attacking it. With the help of Balam, who goes along with you, take his Health down until you almost kill him. When his Health gets low enough, the demon will leave and Marguez will trap it. Marguez does not stop walking for most of this encounter, and you may have to keep moving while killing the possessed people to keep up with him.
Once you have driven the demons out of all these men and Marguez has trapped them all, speak with him in the open area between the shop and the church. Marguez, O’Malley, Balam, and Acon will be in front of a fiery red skull named the Emissary.
Talk with all those present, including the Emissary. O’Malley will attempt to ask the demon his purpose in Puerto del Principe. With the help of Acon and Marguez, O’Malley discovers that something has happened to their leader, Mr. Scott Hazel. O’Malley, Marguez, Balam, and Acon decide to return to Captain Deroix’s ship.
Exit the encounter and return to the inside of the church. Inform Father Carreno that the town is now safe from the demons.

Once you have docked at Fortaleza da Luz, enter through the doors in front of you. You’ll end up in an empty courtyard with broken carts and a well. Proceed to your immediate right and follow the hallway. As you advance down the hallway, groups of undead vessels will attack you.
Note: These come in pairs and if you want an easier time of things be attacked by your sturdiest team-mate.
Proceed through a large opening that leads into another large courtyard. In the center of this courtyard is the body of Mr. Scott Hazel. Click on Hazel’s body to receive the mission to kill Kan-Bahlum, a Mayan warrior who is possessed by an ape demon.
Tips: How to defeat Kan-Bahlum
Mitchell Cruz, El Mustang, James Wilberforce, Artie El Blood and Vin Vega collect their reward after their victory against Kan-Bahlum
Shortly after landing, the demon randomly run to a spot in the courtyard and will try to plant a staff in the floor. This emits a large red circle, which you should avoid at all costs, as it creates an area that inflicts damage to any who stand within.
You can prevent the demon from planting the staffs by making him take damage!
Keep the demon away from the circle, and focus all your attacks on it. After a short period of time, Kan-Bahlum will turn, run toward the buildings, and climb the walls.
Using knockdown attacks and stuns will allow you more time to attack him, increasing the time he stays on the ground, where your group can inflict more damage on him and can decrease the amount of damage they take from his pounces.
While he’s climbing the wall, remember to spread out, as he will once again pounce at a player from his location on top of the building.
The fight will continue like this until you have successfully defeated Kan-Bahlum.
Deirdre O'Malley awaits you at the Cathedral doors.
Once you have defeated the demon, find Deirdre O’Malley inside Fortaleza da Luz.
Go through the gate on the far side of the courtyard, which will open after you have defeated Kan-Bahlum. Once everyone in the group is through, the gate will shut. You are trapped in these hallways until you defeat several groups of vessels.
Note: As you move through the hallways, vessels will spawn in front of and behind you, so it is very important that you move as a group and not leave anyone behind.
Clear the hallways of the vessels and the gate at the far end will open, leading to the ramparts of Fortaleza da Luz. Fight several groups of minions to get through to Deirdre O’Malley and the rest of the demon hunters. Talk with Deirdre O’Malley at the cathedral doors, and she will give the next part of the mission line.

O’Malley will inform you that Pacal and his scorpions must be defeated in order to obtain a vial of scorpion venom. Pick up three vials of anti-venom from Acon. Make certain that every group member gets their three vials, as you’ll definitely need them during the fight with Pacal!
Descend down the ramp on either side of the platform and defeat another roaming pack of minions. Once you have slain them, proceed down the hallway and out onto the beach. You will find Pacal at the beach’s far end.
Tips: How to defeat Pacal
Mitchell Cruz, El Mustang, James Wilberforce, Artie El Blood and Vin Vega battle against Pacal
Before you engage Pacal, it is in the best interest of the group to designate a person to focus primarily on reviving fallen comrades and another person to keep at least some of the scorpions pulled away from Pacal and your teammates.
Having a reviver who has the extra resurrection from the mission in Port Royal is very helpful!
When engaging Pacal, it is best to pull him back toward the gate area. This will give the person on scorpion duty room to round up as many of the scorpions as possible.
During the fight, Pacal will randomly consume his scorpions, which regenerates his guard to full. Pacal’s guard will also regenerate from the scorpions if they die at the hands of your
group.
It is important to constantly move Pacal around the
beach to keep as many scorpions away from him as possible!
Use your antivenom to decrease the damage done by Pacal.
The fight will continue like this until you have killed Pacal.
Once you have defeated Pacal, return to O’Malley at the cathedral doors.
Finishing Fortaleza da Luz
The Cathedral in Fortaleza da Luz, the scene of your final encounter.
To finish the mission, O’Malley instructs you to enter the cathedral and defeat the four demons protecting Uc-Kamil.You must trap them so that the demon hunters can perform an exorcism on Maximiano Pirez. Pirez is possessed by Uc-Kamil, who will call his four most powerful demons to help protect himself. He will summon Chac Ix the Kestrel, Chac Kuk the Eel, Chac Pak the Lizard, and Chac Muan the Shaman, all of whom appear as floating masks on the ledge directly behind the possessed Pirez.
Each demon has different abilities to help defeat those who seek to destroy Uc-Kamil.
Chac Ix the Kestrel has powerful offensive abilities but is very weak defensively. He is quick and hard to tank, because he bounces from target to target.
Chac Kuk the Eel does not deal as much damage as Chac Ix the Kestrel, but he does a stacking debuff on his target. Every attack that is inflicted on him will reflect a small portion of the damage back to the person attacking.
Chac Pak the Lizard is the tank of the group. He has very high defenses and excellent
Health regeneration. Chac Pak the Lizard’s greatest threat to the group comes when he is trapped.
The fourth demon, Chac Muan the Shaman, is a ranged caster who can be tough to kill. He primarily applies damage-over-time (DoT) debuffs that do a significant amount of damage to their targets.
Note: The DoT's cast can be removed with First Aid.
Tips: How to defeat the four demons
There's generally only 1 "perfect" way to defeat the demons with the least stress on the group as you battle to trap them. Entering the cathedral, a ramp on either side of the altar
leads up to a ledge that runs around the outside of the room. The ledges stop on either side of the doorway from which you enter.
Have one person stay at the door between the two ledges to revive teammates who fall during the encounter.
The reviver should have completed the mission in Port Royal that gives the ability to revive a second time.
The rest of the group should split into two subgroups, one with three members and the other with two. This ensures that you have the most optimum position of players to trap the demons.
Before starting the encounter, make sure that each player has a trap hot-keyed to make trapping the demons easier, as you won’t have much time before the loose demon finds another body.
The reviver should be the one to start the mission, as this means that they can run quickly back to the door the easiest.
It is imperative that both groups fight as close to the edges of the ledges nearest the doorway as possible so that everyone is within range of the person reviving. It is also important for both groups on the ledges to help revive their teammates whenever possible, as even with two ways to revive, the person down below will have a hard time keeping up with the
deaths during the first part of the encounter.
If someone in the group dies out of range of the reviver, it will be up to a teammate on that side to revive them whenever it becomes possible.
Focus your attacks on one main target, assaulting a secondary target only if the main target isn’t in range. As demons get low on Health, it is important to let the other group know so
they can focus on finishing off that demon. When the Health of the body the demon is possessing gets low, the demon will flee from the body and search for another. When this
happens, use your trap.
As a demon’s body gets low on Health, it is best to position someone behind the demon.
As the body dies, the person responsible for trapping should drop their trap, which should collect the demon before it can possess another body.
Mitchell Cruz, El Mustang, James Wilberforce, Artie El Blood and Vin Vega are victorious against the demons!
This method of trapping works best later in the fight when there are several bodies piled up around the areas where both groups are fighting.
It is important to know who has used their trap on a demon and who hasn’t, because once
a person uses their trap and successfully captures a demon, they cannot use their trap again.
The fight continues until all four demons are trapped. For a group that is first learning the encounter, it is best to kill Chac Ix first, since he does high amounts of damage and has little Health and Defense.
The loot you receive for successfully completing this part of the mission line depends on the demon that is killed last; therefore, you’ll probably want to run this a few times, making sure to kill a different demon last each time.
Once all four demons have been trapped, ending the encounter, speak with O’Malley, who, in
turn, will have you speak with the demon Uc-Kamil. Speak with him and return to Father Carreno in Puerto del Principe to complete the mission line and receive your reward.
Special Thanks
You've probably seen their names attached to various screenshots throughout this guide, however it's worth mentioning here. Without the assistance of Mitchell Cruz, El Mustang, James Wilberforce, Artie El Blood and Vin Vega (all players on Antigua) this guide would not have been possible.
So if you run these missions because of this guide, if you play on Antigua (and even if you don't) give thanks to these players for their assistance!
