Heresy Today, Gone Tomorrow
Overview
Talk to Cardinal Serafina FandinoTo accept the mission, speak to Cardinal Serafina Fandino. If you just completed An Invitation from Lady Serafina, you should be standing right in front of her. Otherwise, sail to San Juan and enter the Church. Serafina Fandino is in the back room, to the left of the stage.  Mayer Naumann is a dangerous heretic and he must be stopped. I know you have run into his disciples before, but they would be nothing without their leader. Naumann has revived an old heresy popular in his home state of Bavaria hundreds of years ago. As with the original Brotherhood of the Fee Spirit, the Naumannites believe that neither the Church nor sacraments are necessary to achieve union with God. Such ridiculous notions cannot be allowed to spread. Naumann was chased out of Europe. Now it is up to us to finish the job. The Naumannites have established a village near Havana—they even had the gall to name it St. Naumann. This nest of heretics will not be easy to eliminate. You should bring allies with you, and prepare for a tough fight. —Serafina Fandino
Enter St. Naumann Sail to Havana and upon entering the port click on Heresy Today, Gone Tomorrow, to begin the mission. Your character will see what appears to be a ghost town when you enter St. Naumann (near Havana). Enter the mansion marked on your local map to continue. Defeat Victor Knutton
Once you enter the mansion, you will notice on your local map Victor Knutton, who you may remember from the Gluttony chain. You will find him in the dining room, eating. Go talk to him. Victor Knutton: "Nice to see you again, Captain." You: "It cannot be. I killed you!" Victor Knutton: "I told you I was one of the Spiritualized. Welcome to your final feast!" Defeat Knutton's Guards and then talk to Knutton again. Victor Knutton: "I will flay you, Captain, and feed your flesh to your crew." You: "Eat steel, you gluttonous oaf!" Now prepare to defeat Knutton. Once you have defeated him, you will search his body and discover a key labeled Salon. Defeat Franz Gruber  Head to the Salon marked on your local map. Once you enter the Salon, you will notice Mayer Naumann and Franz Gruber (who you may remember from the Sloth chain). Talk to Mayer Naumann: Mayer Naumann: "So we meet at last" You: "Mayer Naumann I presume." Franz Gruber: "Bow in his presence, heretic." Mayer Naumann: "I am indeed Mayer Naumann and I'm pleased that you've come to me. I can teach you so much, if only you would open your eyes." You: "Seeing your disciples is quite enough for me. Every one of them is a murderous sinner, and if you are their leader you must be the worst of all." Mayer Naumann: "It saddens me to hear you talk so. Gruber, rouse yourself and take care of this riff raff." Franz Gruber: "As you command, Master." At this point Mayer Naumann will leave. Go talk to Franz Gruber. Franz Gruber: "Killing you will please me greatly." You: "As I recall it was you that died the last time we met. I think history is about to repeat itself." Defend yourself and defeat Franz Gruber and his guards. Once Gruber is defeated, head intotown through the door marked on your Local Map. Defeat Feliciana Quyere
Head down the stairs and you will notice Feliciana Quyere strut out. You may remember her from the Envy chain. Talk to her: Feliciana Quyere: "Now do you see the power of the Spiritualized? You may wish you were my equal, but it will never be so." You: "I am already your better, and I have proven it." Feliciana Quyere: "You won't have it so easy this time. I brought my admirers." You: "A few fawning sycophants won't help you." Feliciana Quyere: "I hope you live long enough to realize how wrong you are, Captain." Defend yourself and defeat Feliciana Quyere and her guards. Once she is defeated click on the docked boat marked on your Local Map to follow Naumann. Defeat Cyrille Deverre
You will arrive on a beach. Mayer Naumann and Cyrille Deverre are in front of you. You may remember Deverre from the Lust chain. Talk to Naumann: Mayer Naumann: "Captain, why must we fight? If you join us, you too can become one of the Spiritualized." Cyrille Deverre: "Yes, join us, Captain. I promise to make it worth your while. I'll give you my personal attention." You: "Thanks, but I'd rather drink poison than be with you." Mayer Naumann: "You think you understand, but you do not. You think our movement is about embracing sin, but that's not it at all. My disciples were sent out to show the hypocrisy of the Church." You: "It seems to me all they did was show you own hypocrisy." Cyrille Deverre: "You only see the sin. You do not see that we are beyond such concerns. You have no idea what you are throwing away." Defend yourself and defeat Cyrille Deverre and his guards. Once he is defeated follow Naumann and head to the spot marked on your Local Map. Defeat Elisabeth Clifton
Once there you will notice Elisabeth Clifton (who you may remember from the Wrath chain), one of her Crazed Lackeys, and Mayer Naumann. Talk to Naumann: Mayer Naumann: "Elisabeth, didn't I tell you to wait on the ship?" Elisabeth Clifton: "You did, but Captain [your name] and I have unfinished business. I want to tear out his heart!" You: "Let the mad dog off her leash, Naumann. She needs to be put down forever." Elisabeth Clifton: "Master, Please let me kill him!" Mayer Naumann: "Very well, Elisabeth. Show the good captain your bite. I'm going to the ship." Defend yourself and defeat Elisabeth Clifton and her guard. Once she is defeated follow Naumann using the row boat marked on your Local Map. Defeat The Thief of Pride and Lukas Mammonamen Once there you will notice The Thief of Pride (who you may remember from the Pride chain) and Lukas Mammonamen (who you may remember from the Greed chain). Talk to The Thief of Pride: The Thief of Pride: "I knew it would fall to me to kill you, Captain. I am the favored disciple of the Master." Lukas Mammonamen: "No, all the glory is mine!" You: "There is nothing left for either of you but death. You should surrender now, and I'll take you to San Juan for a fair trial." The Thief of Pride: "A fair trial from the Inquisition? Ha! No, Captain, you must now face the best of the best." Defend yourself against these two opponents. Defeat Mayer NaumannOnce you have defeated them both follow Mayer Naumann into his cabin. Inside you will see only Naumann. Talk to him: Mayer Naumann: "Please, you must listen to me." You: "I must do no such thing." Mayer Naumann: "Captain, you have only seen one side of my movement. The point is not sin, but to move beyond sin. You must live an ascetic life and purify yourself." You: "How many murders before I am purified?" Mayer Naumann: "That's not how it works. If you purify yourself, you soul dies and is reborn in God. It's a living resurrection. Do you see now?" You: "What I see is a dangerous heretic who has destroyed countless lives. Your crimes stop here." Mayer Naumann: "I do not desire this fight, but you give me no choice. I warn you, Captain, God is inside me. Prepare for you end!" Defend yourself against Naumann. Once he is defeated, you may leave the mission. Collect Your RewardsSail back to San Juan and talk to Cardinal Serafina Fandino. Fandino will be inside the Church and through the door to the left of the stage. Serafina Fandino: "Did you find Mayer Naumann?" You: "Not only Naumann, but also his seven disciples. This wouldn't have been so disconcerting if I hadn't already killed most of the disciples before. I don't see how they could have survived our previous encounters. In any case they are all dead—again—and so is Mayer Naumann. His heresy is no more." Serafina Fandino: "God be praised. You have been the sword of the Church, Captain, and I will not forget it. Let us pray." You will be rewarded with Gold 1820 doubloons, Experience 2500 points, and ONE of the following: Inquisition Cutlass, Inquisition Rapier, or Inquisition Smallsword. Related Missions
