PvP Flags (Conquest)

Contents

Not all PvP on the Open Sea occurs in a PvP Zone. Players may attack other players who have flagged themselves for PvP even when the players are outside of a PvP Zone.

PvP Flags (Conquest) is part of the guide: Conquest. This guide contains the following topics:

In order to attack (and be attacked) outside of a PvP Zone, players must have their PvP Flag enabled.

Port Captain
Talk to the Port Captain in any port to turn your PvP Flag on or off.

Players can enable their PvP Flag in two ways:

  • Voluntary PvP Flag—players may turn on their PvP Flag voluntarily at the Port Captain in any port.
  • Viral PvP Flag—attacking a PvP Flagged player on the Open Sea will temporarily flag players for PvP.

Voluntary PvP Flag

Players may talk to the Port Captain in any port to voluntarily turn their PvP Flag on or off. While voluntarily flagged for PvP, players can be attacked by any player of another Nation, anywhere on the Open Sea.

As compensation for this danger, players who have enabled their PvP Flags also have increased speed on the Open Sea.

Finding the Port Captain

As we mentioned above, players can talk to the Port Captain in order to turn their PvP Flag on or off. There is a Port Captain in every port, and generally the Port Captain is standing at the end of the dock or at least nearby the dock.

Like many of the other important NPCs the Port Captain's location is indicated on your Local Map by a star: Star icon on your Local Map. To open your Local Map, on the Toolbar click on the Local Map button or simply press L.

Viral PvP Flag

Players without their PvP Flag enabled are safe from attacks (except when in a Red Circle). That said, players without their PvP Flag enabled may attack players with their PvP Flag enabled. After the battle, the attack enables their PvP Flag for 5 minutes.

Attacking a player who has this temporary PvP Flag will still cause the attacking player to be flagged for PvP.

Because this temporary flag can spread from one player to another, we refer to this flag as the Viral PvP Flag.

Part 2 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag
Part 2 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag: After the battle Player A's PvP Flag is automatically enabled for 5 minutes. Player B's PvP Flag remains enabled.
Part 1 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag
Part 1 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag: Player A (who does NOT have a PvP Flag enabled) attacks Player B (who does have a PvP Flag enabled).

Part 4 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag
Part 4 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag: After the battle, Player C has also contracted the Viral PvP Flag, which originally came from Player B.
Part 3 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag
Part 3 of spreading a Viral PvP Flag: Player C (who does NOT have a PvP Flag enabled) attacks Player A (who has contracted a Viral PvP Flag after the battle with Player B).
