The Sinner Revealed
Overview
Manuel MachadoTo accept the mission, talk to Manuel Machado. If you just completed For the Love of Greed, you should be standing right in front of Manuel Machado. Otherwise, sail to Puerta de Plata and enter the Magistrate's Office. Inside you will find Machado. Magistrate Machado has received an anonymous tip about the Disciples of Naumann: This whole business with the Disciples of Naumann gets stranger by the minute. Just a few moments ago, I received an anonymous tip. It seems that the leader of these brigands has a hideout in a cove just down the coast. I'd like to put an end to this business once and for all. I want you to sail to that hideout and cut the head off of this beast of Naumann. I don't think I need to explain it any clearer than that, do I Captain. —Manuel Machado Leave the Magistrate's Office, and to begin the mission talk to the Coxswain and click on The Sinner Revealed. The BrigandsYour character will arrive on a beach (near Puerta de Plata). Your objective is to investigate the camp, but you soon learn that not only is the camp deserted, but another ship appears to have docked with your own. Get in the boat you came ashore on, and head back to your ship. After your character returns to your ship, you will be confronted by Lukas Mammonamen. Before talking to Mammonamen, we recommend you walk around the ship and scout out the area—your opponents will not attack you until after you speak with Mammonamen. Once you have scouted about the ship, talk to Mammonamen. Lukas Mammonamen: "I can tell by the look on your face, Captain, that you have not fully taken greed into your heart." You: "What are you talking about? No, forget that. Who are you, and what the hell are you doing aboard my ship?" Lukas Mammonamen: "My name is Lukas Mammonamen. You have lost your way, Captain, and I have come to show you the path. You see, I am the disciple of Naumann." You: "Crazy is what you are." Lukas Mammonamen: "Captain, in order for you to become one with God, you must first allow greed into your heart—as I have. And you are so close! When you took the coins from the treasure chest on your first visit to our hideout, for a brief moment you had truly embraced it! But you still need some shepherding, Captain. That is why I gave the Magistrate this false tip. I knew he would send you, and I could help you at last find your way. Your ship is mine now, Captain. I have taken it. If you want it back, you need to embrace your greed and steal it back from me and my men. Now, if you will excuse me. I have other matters to attend to while this lesson is in progress." You: "I'll take my ship, and then I'll take your life." Prepare to follow up your words with action and defeat all 10 of Mammonamen's crew with the help of your allies. Once you have defeated Mammonamen's crew, head to the Captain's Quarters and talk to Mammonamen: Lukas Mammonamen: "I can see from your records that you pay your crew well, Captain. Perhaps you are not as close to God as I had previously believed. You have a long way to go before you can accept greed into your life." You: "Clearly I don't pay them enough, or they never would have allowed you to board my ship." Lukas Mammonamen: "Now, Captain. Your crew did not simply let me and my men come aboard. It is unfortunate that so many of them had to lose their lives, but the chance of having such an important person as you allied with our cause was too much of a temptation to resist. Your men died so that you could learn to embrace your sins and allow God into your life. You really shouldn't let their sacrifices go to waste, Captain." You: "I don't know what cause you are talking about, and I don't care. Any man who tries to take my ship has to deal with my sword. I'm sure spilling your blood will go a long way towards putting my dead crewmen's souls to rest!" Stay true to your word, and defeat Lukas Mammonamen to complete the mission. Collect Your RewardsOnce you have completed the mission, return to the Magistrate's Office and talk to Manuel Machado to collect your reward. You will be rewarded with Boss's Commendation for Excellence (5), Figurehead Treasure Chest, Gold 1610 doubloons, and at least Experience 720 points. Here is an explanation of the Figurehead Treasure Chest: Your crew embraces the deadly sin of greed, improving your turn rate in their pursuit of that which every captain and sailor most desires—treasure!
